Kickstarting our second Various Artists compilation is South African born Jordan Arts, who is now pursuing his music career in Amsterdam. The young and extremely talented multi-instrumentalist created and recorded ‘Finding Truth’ for Swoon’s Live Improv Series, composed entirely himself using progressive loops, synthesisers and his guitar to create this emotive, almost nostalgic house record.

Welcome back MMD resident @shelo-underground, this local South African DJ and Producer is here to share some amazing underground with us in November.

ShelO has been in the music scene for years, there is little he has not achieved in the scene, from hosting floors at events for his record label Double Dutch Records, to DJ'ing at some of South Africas top clubs with some of the hottest internationals like Rich NxT, Løtte and so much more. He has also released on some of the best Minimal/Deep-Tech record labels around the world, holding top ten spots on Beatport for a while.

ShelO is a Deep Tech & Dub Minimal, Artist from South Africa
who started studying sound engineering at age (16) in the year 2011

He loves dark atmospheric grooves, and feels an artists job is to source music that the crowd has never been exposed to.

Kicking off a new month on MMD, we have a local legend in the house @jon-s!

Jon has been on top of the game in the South African scene for longer than most of us has been in the scene, he is currently holding the top spot in terms of steams on the MMD platform and I am convinced that this mix tops all others. Over the last 10 years, I have had the privilege of seeing him perform at places where he held residencies for years like Truth, and even in his own events like The Gardens, or as a part of one of South Africas most iconic duos Pimp Squad. Eery set I hear just seems better than the one before! Here is to one of the Godfathers of the SA scene!

Nyvs is back at Monog with another tasty treat in the form of the delicious The Beautiful Way To Adenadurna. We last had the pleasure of hosting his works back in March 2016 with his A To The Alpha EP and prior to this he had the honour of being Monog's 50th release alongside Sugark with their Arco-Iris EP in 2015. Nyvs started listening to various forms of music, from hip hop to punk and rock to electronic, but it was electronic music that caught his ear and he grew into this sound more and more. Now, totally hooked, he has been twiddling the knobs for over 10 years, happily surrounded by his music gear and losing himself in a world of endless possibilities. Here the track sets out with a nicely tweaked kick drum and sharp hi hat combi finished off with scattered percussions that give the rhythm a dynamic feel. In the background we find sweet melodic pads and keys that stand out beautifully against the deeper elements. The main lead is strong with striking chords and keys drawing a lot of attention. A solid slice that will not disappoint.
