From its delicate opening chord to its cacophonous finale, ‘Glory’ is a journey through the idea of connection. 

Far from its genesis in the serene farmlands of NSW, ‘Glory’ was developed by the band in their studio in Sydney, Australia. Enlisting the help of producer and recording engineer Jack Prest, Broken Mountain went into Studios 301 to record, shortly before the iconic studio complex moved premises. The ‘Glory’ session was one of the last recordings to be made in the legendary Studio A live room.

The band is comprised of Andrew Bruce (The Possé, Wallace, New Venusians, Okenyo, Sampa The Great, Ngaiire) on keys and vocals, drummer and producer Nicholas Meredith (E^ST,  Anatole, Dreller, Kcin, Fiction Writer, Jesse Redwing, Guineafowl), and bass and keys player Brendan Clark (Jesse Redwing, Fiction Writer, Oliver Thorpe, Air land and sea).

"I wrote ‘Glory’ after a trip to Bellingen in the winter,” says Bruce. “I was there with some friends and we drove to a place called the Promised Land, next to the Never Never River. The area is beautiful and has a special energy. It was there that I wrote the poem 'Glory' which formed the basis of the song as we know it today.”

“It's about reflecting on an innate connection towards nature. It's about pausing and immersing yourself in your environment." 

Broken Mountain are a subtle force. Despite each individual’s impressive talents the trio have formed an extremely rare, collaborative bond. Taken from the group’s debut release, ‘Glory’ is a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come. .

Emerging newcomers, roves are Ethan Morgan (Vocals/Guitar), Connor Coutts (Guitar), Ellis Morgan (Bass/Vocals) and Matt Jamieson (Drums).

roves formed around the musical partnership of lifelong friends Ethan and Connor, leaving their previous band to make music more consistent with their listening habits - gradually expanding to a four piece with Ethan’s brother Ellis on bass plus Matt on drums. 

roves’ music can be characterised as ‘atmospheric and ambient sad songs’ and in the past year have released 4 singles as well as their debut EP ‘a strung out pilot’. Recent shows have included packed headline BBC Introducing gigs in their hometown and Guildford’s Boileroom as well as support slots for bands such as Valeras, IVORY WAVE and the Tin Pigeons in cities such as London, Cardiff and Oxford. roves have also enjoyed consistent radio play across their local BBC Introducing Berkshire and also featured on BBC Radio 6.

The band name came about while driving, to rove being defined as ‘a journey without a destination’ which resonated to the bands approach to making music as well as roves’ musical style.

Future shows include headline shows at the Purple Turtle for BBC Introducing on 17th April and more yet to be announced.
