Wow... just discovered this while looking for 16-bit wave files on my hard drive.  It is one of the sections of old cogs.   In the original piece this was layered over itself 4 times, played in the four corners of the room using ambisonics, and rotate around in a circle.

I had never listened to it by itself in mono... I kind of like it.

My live 30 minute performance from the 2014 KZSU day of noise.  This was my first extended performance of all original material in 3 years! You will notice a bit of talk radio got mixed in in the first couple minutes... that was not me, but simply an artifact of Stanford Radio.

This was an experiment done in chuck for my first homework assignment in Music 220a (Fundamentals of Computer Generated Sound)

All the sounds were generated in Chuck using data sets gathered from the internet. 

The first dataset was from http://waxy.org/2010/02/pirating_the_2010_oscars/
Specifically I utilized the number of days between the official release date of an oscar winning film and the date it first leaked into the pirate community.

The second dataset was from http://www.csg.uzh.ch/publications/data/piratebay.html
Specifically I sampled the size of the many torrents available on thepiratebay

Homework 5 for music 220a

        A composition comprising of 6 Sections (2 x Rhythm, 2 x Improvisation, 2 x Nature).  
        
        The improvisations were recording with a microKorg, Chuck, and Ableton Live.  While the microKorg was played chuck was used to provide envelope and frequency following.  The parameters of these devices were manipulated live to create unique results.
        
        For the Rhythm sections I revisited the chuck code used above but improvised to a drum sequence, which was being algorithmically generated in ableton live through follow actions.
        
        Finally for the Nature component, a live nature recording of birds was sliced, diced, remapped, re-pitched, and automated in ableton to create a series of different generative sections.
        
        After these sections were recorded they were arranged in ableton and rendered into individual stems.  These stems were then brought in to chuck where they were Binaurally mixed.
