Twin Pines is the debut release of Forvitinn on the Raftonar output. He offers us a good variety of electronic poems – from the melancholic tale of a polar bear in capture in Mad Polar Bear, the thumping „4 to the floor“ of Third with a hint of melancholy, the club-banging remix of Third in the hands of the Icelandic tech-house wonder Terrordisco, the uplifting mind-boggling indie-pop of You Fought Soldier and the painfully beautiful modern classical piece of Even. Altogether this EP is a beautiful example of the complexity of Forvitinn‘s musical approach – offering something so delicate and sincere.

The Berlin-based Forvitinn is an enigmatic and daring artist. Aside from experimenting with music, he has made a reputable career as a painter, sculpturer as well as contributing to various video art and media art performances. He has done collaborations, for example with the respected choreographer Constanza Macras and the cellist Gyda Valtýrsdóttir (former member of the folktronica ensemble Múm) –as well with the Icelandic electronica veteran Ruxpin.

The Thule camp is hitting it hard these days. This time it‘s a collaboration between two pioneers within the Icelandic techno scene. On the A-side, we have Static, a hypnotic & atmospheric groove accompanied with indistinguishable voices and shimmering dub chords, and Útkall, a minimalist & hard-hitting dub techno mantra with a twist in the end will turn any late night clubbers buzz into an eternal blizz. On the other side we have the heavy-rhythmic oriented Sedna, where the drums and bass compliment each other in such a way that it might cause involuntary muscle movements, and then to finish it off we got Timelaps, a delicate minimalistic techno journey – waiting to send the listeners into a unexpected voyage to the unknown. 
Ohm is best known for his successful releases on Force Inc with Exos and a an inventive techno DJ. Octal Industries, a veteran who has already gained a reputation within the IDM community under his Ruxpin pseudonym, returns to his origins with collaboration with Ohm, a pioneer of the within the Icelandic scene. 
Thule Records is considered by many to be a pioneer in the field of dub-influenced techno music and was a starting point for many of Iceland‘s most renowned electronic musicians.
