I composed this piece for the Western Front's Octophonic: Sound Immersion concert. This is the stereo version. It is made from samples. Some that I have worked with for over 10 years, others recently acquired for a live sound track that I made for the Biting School's "Suddenly Slaughter," performed Jan. 2019. I improvised with the sounds I knew well from the sound track and then stepped away and polished it a bit.

This piece aims to investigate our contradictory relationship with our origin. The strings are the origin to the electronic sounds that will be produced; similar to human species that has originated from nature. In parts of the piece, the electronics, the human element, overshadows the strings, the nature, and in some other instances, it becomes an inseparable element of the musical structure. "Happiness filled the space of sadness", which is a quote from Milan Kundera, seemed like an apt title for the contradictory relationship that we currently have with the very environment that gave birth to us.
