With the advent of our democratically chosen fascist plague looming I'm going to reprise this one which is basically about -- wait a minute I don't do  "it's about's"  --  it's about whatever you think it's about.  I feel it now more than four years ago when I wrote it.

Hey… glad you dropped by. Gonna get real cold here, and I have a bit of snow shoveling to finish before the cold snap, so this is a short song. More an exploration of ideas than a song, as I fumble about with music. Maybe the season? Or my age? Or life in general? Or my dreams at night about my life? Whatever it may be, I am certainly wondering about where I am right now, how I got here, what I am doing here, and where I might be headed, if anywhere in particular. Sometimes I catch little glimpses of the essence of all this. I am an old man now. Maybe this comes with the territory? I stumble about through these days, especially if I don’t watch where I am going. I’ve lived through far too many wars, too much collective global hatred and violence, and witnessed outright cruelty. That has made it more difficult to live on this planet, as time passes. I’ve also found myself lost in the beauty of this world, fascinated by everything around me. It is as if time becomes irrelevant, as everything just happens. Everywhere I turn I am amazed and grateful to be alive. I don’t want to miss a thing. We live, we die, we laugh, we cry. Seven Bridges Road

Sometimes when there’s too much water under the bridge
it can cause the support foundations to fail.

Poker Face

Ever since I saw an incredible Canadian band (Recipe From a Small Planet) do a live Reggae jam and seamlessly slide into a cover of 'Watching The Detectives', I wanted to try something similar. In this case, I did the opposite, starting with the cover, and adding a kinda reggae/dub section at the end, which starts at 3:15. 

For the dub portion, I enlisted the help of one of the best talents I know - @Llanpsych (Tez) - to add his magic and 'dubbify' the whole instrumental section at the end. I'm singing and playing all the instruments here using my keyboard, and some echo effects, and Tez did the rest to produce that authentic dub atmosphere into the mix. I recommend listening to that part at least with headphones, and hope you enjoy the result! Thanks so much Tez, I couldn't have done this without your mad skillz!

Sharp ears may notice the following 2 details: 

  -  In the last few seconds, I threw in the theme from 'The Godfather', played on melodica (see credit below). 

  -  at 0:39, you can faintly hear my dog barking in the background. I decided to keep it in, since she barked at the line, "red dogs under illegal legs", which I thought was funny timing!  :)
