Pioneering NYC house label Nu Groove Records is proud to unveil a four-track EP of originals from fellow NYC house legend Jovonn.

After nearly three decades without a release, the cult house label relaunched in 2021 spearheaded by none other than Jovonn with ‘Random / Get Over It’. Following his ‘Funn Houze EP’ released earlier in 2023, the Brooklyn native is back with his ‘Blaque Katt EP’, a masterful display of innate musicality combined with an affinity for roaring ’90s-inspired club music.

For the lead, ‘The Piano Fix’, Jovonn creates a dichotomy between the delicate nature instrument and the heavy, sweaty feel of the dancefloor. This is followed by a harder pianistic technique in both ‘The Piano Fix Returns’ and ‘Let Me Tell You Somethin’, showcasing the producer’s flair for harmony and melody.

Closing the immersive collection is ‘Drop That Traxx’, a playful track featuring addictive, syncopated hooks over a pounding four-on-the-floor beat. Throughout the EP, Jovonn displays his talent for gritty, hard music made with tender care.

Husky returns with a club ready deep house cut featuring the vocals of US based vocalist, Letta. Jacked up beats, deep chords and pulsing bass are in thick supply here, as Husky combines his usual soulful elements with a slightly grittier groove. It's ripe and ready.

On the remix we have the UK born but globally known house producer, Scott Diaz. Fresh from recently remixing records for Defected, Peppermint Jam, Lovejuice Records and Blockhead Recordings, Scott always brings a fresh and unique flavor to a remix. Taking the original melodies and adding his own vocal cuts he has morphed this remix into a funky but soulful rendition, lathered in his usual bouncing bass and dreamy chord progressions. Offering up glimpses of his garage roots also, this really is a class remix that will stand up for the ages.

Husky Feat Letta - Want U Back (Scott Diaz Grand Plans Dub)

For the 5th time now, Nemoy managed to convince actual musicians to release something on his largely unsuccessful label. And oh boy, are those some actual musicians this time! Marlow and his partner in crime Rainer Trüby came up with a lush, deep house stomper featuring a little vocal shred we all think we know – but we really don’t! They are not so much into the obvious sample digs… Combined with some crazy hi hat work and all the minor 9th chords you can possibly handle, „U Know How I Feel“ makes you feel like they really do know, how you feel. Azaxx took all this and turned it into something completely different. To be honest, he might just have created an entirely new genre of soulful electronic dance music. Outstanding drum programming and the exact right amount of „when is that beat coming back again?!“ make his remix a very unique ride. Nemoy made a version too. He challenged himself to use the cheapest, most unintuitive and terrible synth you can imagine for this. And he made it sound like a Million Dollar. The shuffle on this one is a very weird animal – but also a very fluffy one. Go get it, before the others do! There are only 200 copies around!
