This is the music that really took me around the globe and people associate Krafty Kuts with. For me some, of the most exciting and fresh sounding music has been with the breakbeat scene over the years. Playing to 40,000 people at the Exit Festival, headlining shows across Australia & New Zealand to big Festivals in the UK & Europe, USA & Canada. So many great artists have been a part of the Breaks scene ie. Freq Nasty, Plump DJ's, Stanton Warriors, Adam Freeland, Evil 9, DJ Icey, Deekline, Prodigy, Meat Katie, Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Rennie Pilgrem, Soul Of Man, Squarepusher, Pendulum, DJ Zinc & many more are all featured in this podcast. Im proud to present Episode 15 of Lowering The Tone,  the long form podcast created for the listener who is looking for something a little bit more than just a standard DJ mix.

The word "eccentric" gets thrown around a lot, but I can honestly say my latest guest encapsulated the word perfectly. Wreckage Inc (Alex Wright) is one of the key members of the legendary Mutoid Waste Company. The raucous UK based art collective, who have been creating jaw dropping art installations all over the world, stemming back to the mid 80’s and still going strong today. It’s a change from what I normally do (chatting to DJ’s/Producers).  As you will hear Alex loves a tangent… and with an hilarious affect. I found him to be an intelligent and dare I say, inspiring individual with a glorious outlook on life.

Music wise as always you can rely on a journey though the underground smashing through the genres on its way.

UMEK is personally responsible for kickstarting the electronic music scene in his home country by first organizing illegal raves and then becoming one of Slovenia’s most wanted export products and number one music ambassador to the whole world.

And he does fly! Around 100 times per year, visiting almost every continent each year. His gig diary ranges from dark underground clubs in Berlin to massive techno stages on world’s most renowned festivals. Apart from making his name in the DJ booth, he’s also a tireless producer. He mostly releases on his own imprint 1605, where he often gives the opportunity to talented producers, unknown to the broader public. His signature sound as well as his label’s production can regularly be heard on UMEK’s widely popular weekly radio show Behind the Iron Curtain, which is now featured on more than 150 radio stations across the world.
