The Beatitudes

Dies Irae translates to "Day of Wrath" and is part of the traditional roman catholic Requiem Chants (the liturgy for the Death). Basically it is known for images of Divine Judgment and the responsibilities for your life actions. The Chant stems from the 13th century and has a long history in endless music, art and literature.There were lots of impressive and sometimes even scary musicial compositions using this text throught the centuries (for example by Mozart). Johann Wolfgang von Goethe used the first, the sixth and the seventh stanza of the hymn in the scene "Cathedral" in the first part of his drama Faust (1808).

The well-know "wrath" and "judgment" aspects are only part of the first half of the Chant, while it has a turn of redemption and hope in the middle. I tried to portrait that by changing the atmosphere of the Chant there and trying to get to the core of what it's meant to be. Also it is important, that the idea of Divine Judgment refers to the lower and fallen aspects of men, while the path of light is portray in the second half of the chant - a process that we all should go through in the course of our lifes. As always, there is a deeper hidden mystery in these chants regarding your own inner being and which isn't always be found in the litteral meaning.

Dies Irae - Thunder Version

Thy Resurrection (German: Deine Auferstehung) is an ancient mystical christian prayer chant which is sung in christian-orthodox liturgies in the Easter celebration of the Ressurrection of Christ worldwide. As usual in the orthodox tradition, it is originally sung by choir and voices only. I created a new interpretation of it in the way it resonates in my heart, using the German language. The Chant combines elements of worship, purification of the heart, connecting with God and requesting the help of the Divine.

In the moving easter liturgy, there burns a candle on the altar that is never extinguished (the "unsleeping light"). At midnight, the Paschal Matins start and the priest lights his triple candle, the Paschal Trikirion, from the unsleeping fire, symbolizing the invincible light in the darkness of the world. Leaving the altar, he sings to the people: "Come receive the light from the light that is never overtaken by night, and glorify Christ, Who is risen from the dead!" The light then spreads throughout the dark church, from candle to candle, enlightening everybody inside and finally the whole world, casting away the darkness and showing everybody who has eyes to see, what they should go after in their own inner being.

Which translates to:

Thy Resurrection, Christ Savior,
the Angels in Heaven sing.

This very beautiful 'Ave Maria' is less well-known and
commonly attributed to the wonderful Baroque composer Giulio Caccini (1551--1618). (highly doubtful)
Also attributed to Vladimir Vavilov (1925--1973) (more likely)

"Ave Maria" is a popular and much recorded aria composed by Vladimir Vavilov around 1970. It is a musical hoax generally misattributed to Baroque composer Giulio Caccini. Vavilov himself published and recorded it on the Melodiya label with the ascription to "Anonymous" in 1972. It is believed that the work received its ascription to Giulio Caccini after Vavilov's death, by an organist Mark Shakhin (one of its performers on the mentioned "Melodiya" longplay), who gave the "newly discovered scores" to other musicians; then in an arrangement made by the organist Oleg Yanchenko for the recording by Irina Arkhipova in 1987; then the piece came to be famous worldwide
