Our 'Good Morning from ...' Guest Mix series will explore different artists from all around the world as they take us on a journey with their distinct and unique sounds that they'll showcase to represent their taste, surroundings and upbringing.

For today’s multisensory story, we’re travelling to a masterpiece of history, culture, music, and landscape with a medieval heart on top of a hill surrounded by the majestic Venetian walls.

Art and history come together in Bergamo; we explore it by walking across the historic districts, its churches, its funiculars and its walkways. We're climbing up through the lush vegetation of the Hills Park, where we can't help but be enchanted by the surprising views of the flatland and the mountains.

@mcslee is a man of many faces, and most notably the founder of revered imprint @manjumasi, and today he’s the storyteller who is taking us on an early morning guided tour of ’the city by the sea’. Walk by the Golden Gate Bridge, and rush to catch one of the city’s famous trams in rush hour… Good Morning from San Francisco

We're back in the tropics of Miami for our latest morning story, and for residents of Miami, life must sometimes feel like a full-time vacation. 

Along Ocean Drive, bright pink and yellow Art Deco buildings pop against the blue backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. On Calle Ocho, the smell of freshly baked croquetas wafts through the air. Walk past any bar or nightclub and the sound of Latin music blasts onto the streets, turning even an empty parking lot into a salsa dance floor.

You know The Unbearable Lightness of Being? Of course you do. So on the one hand everything is alive and is happening only once and because of that life is unbearably light. On the other hand, unbearable does not mean bad, nor is light necessarily synonymous with bad. Moreover, because our life is unrepeatable, every second of it becomes much more important and beautiful. And the same could go with The Unbearable Lightness of Being where everything that happens throughout life… anyway, you get the gist. This past midsummer, at the invitation of Rambalkoshe and Jägermeister, @denis-kaznacheev played here, and trying to describe in words how beautiful everything was is as pointless as trying to weigh the lightness of your being.

The 23rd Podcast #46 - DinAmmo

For the 30th entry of Schmaus’ podcast series, give a warm welcome to Japanese artist Kai (aka Kaitaro Nakajima). Born in 1977 in Tokyo, Kai discovered DJing at the age of 17, spinning Hip-Hop records. It is in 2003 that the artist got into the Minimal House and Techno sphere and been actively producing since then.
His first release came circa 2005 on Sud Electronic, which led to several more on Alphahouse, Level Records and Enliven Music. Kai moved to Berlin in 2007, where he performed live for years to gain experience.
In the past decade, the artist released on major labels such as MERKUR Schallplatten, Little Helpers and Someone Else. Still based in Berlin today, Kaitaro focuses on live acts and music production.
In the opening of the live act, a solid groove comes in with complex tones and tasty drums. Aquatic organic textures followed by grand piano and strings parts create a contrast between acoustic instruments and the acousmatic production.
The mood shifts to a dreamy pad with trippy vocals, accented with sharp hi-hats, and switch again to minimalistic passages. These abstract moments display a clever drum programming, wet yet subtle FX use and tonal textures.
The artist juggles with psychedelic chord progressions, rich details and glitches in a seamless storytelling. The listener is trapped in a special bubble of sound with out of this world atmosphere.
Kai takes is drum patterns to another level with congas and bongos solos, to go back to serene and deep vibrations. We encounter old school timeless chords, dubby elements, and a super efficient sub bass all along the performance.
This set is a demonstration of movement in music, A-game sound design and unfolding narrative, which will leave the listener stunned on a final abstract note.
