Co-founder of Norway’s future-facing Ute crew, Ekkel (Teo Bachs) has a front-row seat in the cockpit on their psychedelic flavoured quest. From their woodland beginnings they’ve staked a claim to freedom through music and community, and expanded to include brick and mortar club nights and a self-titled label for the release of their magnetic and mysterious techno sounds. Forest-bath electronics that take stock of Scandinavia’s ambient tradition and cross-pollinate it with a measure of acid, trance and midnight sun. Teo’s own steadily rising number of productions (side project H25 included) has fleshed out Ute’s vision with a personal twist, and there’s another three scheduled for the fall. The past few years too have seen him hard at work exploring the possibilities of sound in a lonely cabin as part of Solar Alliance, collaborating with S.O.N.S on Korean label Junction Forest and producing many more unreleased tracks, some of which you’ll hear here first for a very special number. It’s a wormhole trip that marches headlong from the shadows, shimmering and physical beats that heave and swell, tribal breaks that flit from track to track and build a cathartic mood that harks back to Ute’s woodland roots. Years of simmering mutual admiration between Turbo and Architectural have finally erupted with the Asturian producer's first release on the label - Good Night, Whatever That Is.

Nothing gets us hot and bothered like the prospect of featuring a true artist on Turbo. In fact, we are so f-ing jazzed to be working with techno genius Architectural that we even dropped scrappy “fun-house” producer Archie Textures from our roster to avoid confusion.

To celebrate the new record, Architectural has sent over the live recording from a magical evening in Barcelona last year. With a few trax from the EP intermingled with his bespoke dub techno selections, its a masterful flow from start to finish. Tune in.

75th podcast comes from @A_Denial, a Djane since 2008, who has started to produce music in the last 6 years. Her mood varies between groovy and deep rhythms with a mysterious atmosphere.
All the sets and tracks are real stories from a part of her life. This one recording particularly, is a hybrid live set in which she played her unreleased stuff and some tracks from her new release on Diffuse Reality records album called "Life Story" released on February 2025 which also includes a remix from the respected Rrose. 

A.Denial ■ Hapësira Podcast LXXV

The long running stirrings of Surgeon (Anthony Child) and Regis (Karl O’Connor) under the conjunct British Murder Boys are not for the faint of heart. Their alleged final act came before a Tokyo crowd in 2012, but the goodbye only lasted three years and with their Amsterdam return, a reformulation of their signature industrial sound. The duo, both at their acme with little signs of descent, have together found a hybrid techno that scales high and large, bringing together thumping bass and hissing feedback for a distinctly belligerent and primal club sound. It’s not all obvious, their 2020 cover of Lou Reed’s Real Good Time Together offered a machine-inflected spin on the original, and opened the door for their debut LP Active Agents And House Boys (2024). At the heart is a provocative, sexually-charged and punkish techno that offloads bristling rhythms and defiant energy, one that’s a little more controlled and mathematical in practice. Following on from their show at Bassiani back in November comes this next mix. Bassiani Podcast 250 is an hour-long and live recorded assault: thrashing beats, crazed and bleepy arps, EBM-style shouts, a decadent and rageful call to arms and one of the most important instalments in this long running series. Back-breaking industrial techno from these two heavyweights and originators of the Birmingham sound.

We begin our SMLCR MIXES series with Spacer, a defining force in Barcelona’s underground scene. 

Spacer's artistic journey started in dance, a discipline she fully pursued before shifting her creative focus toward sound. Drawn to synthetic textures and rejecting tags and music labels, she has developed a unique sonic identity that defies classification. Trying to define her style is futile—her sets are immersive journeys, blending introspection and euphoria, the personal and the communal, darkness and bliss. Her ability to craft these sonic experiences goes beyond technical skill; she forges a rare and powerful connection with her audience, making each set a deeply engaging and transformative experience. This same curiosity and drive led her to create En Órbita, a program that goes beyond music, uncovering the stories of DJs, producers, and key figures in Barcelona’s electronic culture through live conversations.

Through this set, Spacer takes us on a sonic journey through futuristic electronic textures, hypnotic breaks, and immersive soundscapes. Blending synthetic melancholy with raw energy, she crafts a groove-driven, elegant narrative that moves between the ethereal and the intense, aiming to transport listeners into a deep, introspective state while keeping them in constant motion.

76번째 vurt podcast는 네덜란드의 라이브 테크노 듀오 Artefakt의 113분 라이브 세트와 함께 합니다. 이 세트는 지난 2023년 field records의 15주년을 기념하여 열린 'Floating World’ 레이블 투어 중 도쿄 Spread에서 6월 2일에 녹음된 라이브 실황 세트입니다. (도쿄 이벤트는 Liminal Dreams가 공동주최 하였습니다.)

The 76th vurt podcast features a 113-minute live set from Artefakt, the live techno duo from the Netherlands. 
This set by Artefakt was recorded live at Spread in Tokyo, on the 2nd of June 2023. This night was part of the Field Records ‘Floating World’ label tour celebrating their 15 year anniversary. The Tokyo events were co-organised by the Liminal Dreams collective.

세계적으로 잘 알려진 네덜란드의 라이브 테크노 듀오 Artefakt는 닉 라피엔(Nick Lapien)과 로빈 쿡(Robin Koek)의 최면적이고 주술적인 음악에 대한 공통된 애정을 기반으로 시작되었다. 듀오는 폭넓은 프레임-워크(frame-work)를 통해 음악이 연주되는 동안 소리의 질감과 톤을 미세하게 변화시켜 인간의 뇌가 몰입하고 호흡할 수 있는 최적의 분위기를 조성한다. 최근에는 즉흥적인 방식을 기반으로 정교하게 큐레이팅된 콜라보레이션 시리즈 De Stijl를 선보이며 창작의 경계를 확장하고 있다. Artefakt는 유럽, 북미, 아시아 전역에서 라이브 공연을 펼쳐왔으며, 아날로그 감성이 짙은 이들의 무대는 아름다운 선율과 깊은 감성의 테크노를 좋아하는 팬이라면 절대로 놓쳐서는 안될 최고의 공연이다.

At the root of Nick Lapien and Robin Koek’s Artefakt project is a shared love for melancholic, hypnotic voodoo music. Their sound is pensive with deep, rich textures; long track lengths—often six-minutes-plus—give the duo an expansive framework in which to make small changes of texture and tone, creating cerebral, balanced atmospheres that absorb and engage. “Sometimes we just take a short element, like the sound of a falling drop of water, and from this recording we extract the rhythm and use it as a starting point,” they say. “It’s a very organic way of creating new material.” 
After a period of self-reflection, the Dutch duo returned in 2019 to launch a label with a new EP. De Stijl serves as a platform for their musical explorations and those of their close friends. The imprint’s inaugural EP,  Far and Wide, a lesson in dancefloor-ready techno that prioritises mood and melancholy, preceded Monsoon, Artefakt’s second album, this time on Svreca’s mighty Semantica Records. Across eight tracks, the duo evidenced an intrinsic understanding of rhythmic structures, confirming their status as one of the most singular and emotionally evocative acts in contemporary techno. 
As a live act, Lapien and Koek have performed all across Europe, North America, and Asia, their analog-heavy set a must-see for fans of melodic and deeply emotive techno. Drawing on their shared love for collecting records, they also perform as DJs, crafting long, hypnotic narratives laced with exclusive material and records from the expensive collections, old and new. 
Having first crosses paths at university, Lapien and Koek began making music together in 2012. Lapien, whose infectious, swinging house cuts have featured on Rekids, Soul People Music, and DVS1’s Mistress, was just beginning his career as a solo artist; while Koek, who designs his own artistic systems and teaches at dBs Music Berlin, had just earned a Master of Arts from Utrecht's School of Arts, specializing in Sound Design and Composition. After releasing two EPs on the legendary Dutch imprint Delsin Records, in 2017 Koek and Lapien presented their debut album, Kinship, cementing their nuanced, atmospheric style while showcasing its breadth. It was the first big step in their ongoing pursuit to adopt techno as an art-form rather than a genre.
