'When There Is Fire'
written, produced and recorded within 24hrs by The Unused Word on Oct. 31, 2015.

Hello everyone! This is my new track called 'When There Is Fire'. This is the first time in a very long time that I was able to produce a 'one night session track'. I wrote, produced, recorded and mixed everything in one day, primarily working on it at night - around 16 or 17hrs during the past 24 hours. (Yes, I am tired, and yes, I missed it!) Two of the reasons why this could happen now was that I rearranged my studio again and again, until it felt like my place, my home - and that I really felt like channeling my old friend insomnia again.
The track sounds eerie and strong, and the longer I kept working on it, the more pictures of old warriors kept popping up. Anyway, enjoy - this one's for you, and it's also a free download.

For Music Box, I recorded the small metal music box (pictured) being played in various ways: strummed, used percussively, played note by note. To this I added plucked viola and minimal vocals.

I am currently writing a series of short stories entitled Airships. Set in a fictional steampunk world, the tales speak of love in a world of industry. For FAWM 2016, I am setting some of these to music.

Kiasmos mark their return in 2017 with a new 12” EP titled Blurred — available worldwide on October 6th via Erased Tapes.

Since their 2015 Swept EP, the duo have been performing shows extensively across the world. After writing and recording together in their native Iceland this year, the pair will be bringing a glimpse of light to a particularly gloomy time of year as their light sounds are brighter than ever.

￼The EP closes with remixes from British producer Bonobo and German electronic musician Stimming, taking tracks Blurred and Paused into different coloured realms.

The cover art featuring the iconic Kiasmos symbol is by long-time Erased Tapes collaborator Torsten Posselt at FELD.
