I used my crappy Ibanez Gio at the start, but later changed to my Ibanez RGA32 as it's got better pickups for this kinda thing

It sounds like he's doing double stops inbetween, but that's nearly impossible to do at this speed with the string skipping needed. He doesn't do it live, so I assume they just did it for the album. Who knows what trickey they used.

This is an odd pattern to remember, especially after an entire song full of straight and triplet patterns.
