Creating a free creative and experimental place outside of the conventional realm was the core of the project. A place where our community could enjoy every single sound narrowly curated for them.

Today we believe in a vision of a community reconnecting with that very last sound, beyond time and space, when they are taken to the end of their pursuit of the mystical truth of life.

In reality, music is a collaboration between many musicians, but permanently involves Damon Albarn. Their style represents several musical genres including rock, alternative music, britpop, trip hop, hip-hop, electronica, independent rock, dub, reggae, pop, and rap. Although several other fake bands, whether animated or with real actors, have already been successful, they were only parodies of a particular genre (Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wind) or were designed for a young or even very young audience (The Archies, Alvin &amp; the Chipmunks). Gorillaz is not intended to be a parody or a children's book and its success is as much due to the characters invented by Albarn and Hewlett as to their music.
