Above & Beyond share their Deep Mix of ‘Almost Home,’ their most recent single and first joint effort in over four years with long-time collaborator Justine Suissa.

‘Almost Home’ was Above & Beyond’s first club track of 2021, arriving just in time for their Group Therapy 450 milestone show at The Drumsheds London in early September. The trio premiered their deep mix of ‘Almost Home’ in their warm up set for Group Therapy 450, recorded in Hackney Canal, London. Group Therapy 450 was Above & Beyond's first headline show in over a year, with the band performing to 10,000 fans in person, plus tens of thousands more online. Both sets have been uploaded to YouTube, racking up nearly a million views in less than a month. 

Jono, Tony, Paavo and Justine have been working together since 2000 when they formed the group OceanLab. In 2008, they released their first and only album ‘Sirens Of The Sea’,a record that has gained near-mythical status among trance fans. More recently, Above & Beyond and Justine have collaborated on club hits like ‘Alright Now’, ‘Cold Feet’ and ‘Another Chance’, and emotive, downtempo records like ‘Little Something’. Lifted from the forthcoming album 'Unreality', Grum shares an 80s-inspired single 'Don't Look Down', featuring Natalie Shay.

There’s a considered and conscientious edge to every record that comes from the studio of Graeme Shepherd, a.k.a. Grum. Strip away the club exterior and you will find a nuanced, sometimes provocative, message that asks us to challenge our outlook on the world.

Progressive house connoisseur, Deep State label head and Anjunabeats stalwart, June 24 sees the release of his fourth artist album, ‘Unreality’; his most reflective work to date, putting human connection in the digital age under the microscope. 

“This is about remembering our humanity, which perhaps we lost a little bit over the last couple of years - maybe we can get a bit of it back in the dark, under some strobe lights.” 

A story in two halves, the album is introspective, ideas-driven and song heavy, holding a mirror to Graeme’s own emotional journey over the last two years. 

“The first half mostly came about in the summer of 2020. With all that time on my hands, and as a form of therapy, I started rediscovering a lot of 80s music I loved and hadn’t listened to for a long time. This turned into doing special 80s livestreams to connect with my fans. There is definitely a bit of longing here for simpler and happier times.” Grum explains. “The second half of the album has a darker, apocalypse rave feel to it”.

Designed for the darkest of dance floors, lead single ‘Disconnected’ featuring Daniel Sealine provides one of those cataclysmic moments; a techno infused helter-skelter ride with Daniel’s vocal bursting out of the shadows.

Grum embarks on phase one of his ‘Unreality’ tour this summer, stage one including 18 dates across North America with shows in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Toronto and more.

2022 was a big year for Jono Grant and Darren Tate, aka JODA. Grant is one-third of Above & Beyond who, throughout a two-decade career, have established themselves as one of the biggest electronic groups in the world. In 2019, Above & Beyond received an offer to score an environmental documentary, ‘The Last Glaciers’. He enlisted classically trained musician, songwriter, producer, hitmaker and close friend Darren Tate, and the duo got stuck into composing together.

It became a dream project all around – not least because it sparked further ideas. JODA was born. Working in Tate’s studio in suburban north London, and A&B’s south London HQ, the pair were in a creative bubble during the early days of the pandemic. And the partnership proved fruitful. Their self-titled album ‘JODA’, celebrating the musical influences that Jono and Darren grew up with, was released on Anjunabeats in August 2022 – to a rapturous reception from the Anjunafamily and beyond.

Canadian DJ and producer Simon Doty recently dropped his chart-topping debut album ‘Universal Language’ on Anjunadeep. His remix of JODA feat. Robyn Sherwell’s ‘Closer’ was a standout feature on the record, standing alongside collaborations with American spoken word artist Ursula Rucker, British duo My Friend, legendary American vocalist Roland Clark, and more.

Crafted for the dancefloor, Simon’s debut album gives the audience a taste of the range of musical styles that they can expect to hear Simon play during one of his DJ sets. I wrote the instrumental for this track intended as an original. As I was finishing up, I heard the vocals from "Walking Alone" in my head fit the missing piece of the track. So I added the vocals and they fit perfectly!

This was going to be an exclusive track for my live sets, but after Above & Beyond got a listen from my guestmix, they asked for a download. I gave them the download, and they proceeded to play it on the radio show. The reaction from everyone was fantastic, so I approached Dirty South's camp to get clearance on the vocal. Today, the vocal was cleared, so thought I'd give it away for free to thank everyone for the continued support.
