Close To Me

Love and Dancing is the second collection of 80's new wave tracks that the band has recorded in a ska and reggae style. Instead of releasing all the songs together as an album, the band will be releasing a song and video a month over the rest of 2016 with a goal of having all 10 songs compiled in the collection by the end of the year. 

The album is called "Love and Dancing" because the songs the band has recorded so far are all about the ups and downs of love and the joys of dancing. It also pays homage to the Human League who had a side project called The League Unlimited Orchestra and released a remix of their "Dare" album with that title in the early 80's. 

The third release from the album in June 2016 is a bouncy reggae version of Wang Chung's "Dance Hall Days" which was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic in 1984.

Specialized Records's vision is a future where young people’s lives don’t stop because they have cancer. We make sure they’re treated as young people first, cancer patients second and everything we do aims to improve their quality of life and chances of survival.
Around six young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer.’ We’re the only charity dedicated to making this happen. We bring young people together so they can be treated together, by teenage cancer experts, in the best place for them. We educate young people about cancer and work with health professionals to develop their knowledge so we can improve the speed and quality of diagnosis. And by funding research and working with our partners in the NHS, government and organizations both nationally and internationally, we strive to improve survival rates.

Things Can Only Get Better

The seventh release from the album 'Love and Dancing" in April 2017 is a new wave meets reggae version of Blondie's "Atomic" released in 1980 became the band's third number one in the UK Singles Chart, where it held the top spot for two weeks. It also reached the Top 40 in the US in Spring 1980.

Rude Boy George is a collective of NYC ska musicians from Bigger Thomas, Across The Aisle and The Toasters who are creating ska, reggae & rocksteady versions of 80s New Wave songs.  This is their ska take on The Human League's iconic track "(Keep Feeling) Fascination" released in 1983. The song was produced by Wayne "Waylo" Lothian (ex-English Beat, General Public, Special Beat).  It will be released on the Rude Boy George EP released later this summer.

Rude Boy George -- (Keep Feeling) Fascination

Rude Boy George is a NYC-based band that reinterprets 80's New Wave classics in ska, reggae, rocksteady versions. They are motivated by a shared love and respect for ska (reflected in the reference to 1960s and 2 Tone rude boys) and the extraordinary amount of good music produced in the late 70s and early 80s New Wave/post-punk era (Boy George). And they want to have some fun doing it. That's Rude Boy George’s agenda and mission statement--simple as that.

Rude Boy George formed in January 2013 with members drawn from several popular and long-standing NYC area ska bands: Bigger Thomas (vocalist Roger Apollon, drummer Jim Cooper, bassist/Marco on the Bass blogger Marc Wasserman, and guitarist Spencer Katzman), Beat Brigade and The Toasters (keyboardist Dave Barry), and Across the Aisle (singer Megg Howe)—plus a ska blogger/former indie ska label guy (Steve Shafer on backup vocals) thrown in for good measure.

The band’s live debut took place at Electric Avenue in Manhattan on April 13, 2013 to a very enthusiastic crowd and the band has played close to a dozen other gigs throughout the New York area since. Our perpetually expanding set list includes songs by Human League, Soft Cell, The Romantics, Billy Idol, INXS, The Smiths, Cyndi Lauper, Squeeze, Culture Club, Gary Numan, Psychedelic Furs, Talking Heads, Berlin, and The Pretenders.

In May 2013, Rude Boy George recorded three tracks at Bill Laswell’s studio in West Orange, NJ with ex-General Public/Special Beat/English Beat bassist Wayne “Waylo” Lothian producing. The result is our five-track digital EP Take One (with "(Keep Feeling) Fascination," "Don't Change," and "Talking in Your Sleep"--plus two remixes featuring Antonee First Class), now available through Bandcamp. On December 5, 2014, they released their first LP "Confessions" and have received rave reviews so far.
