August Alsina's debut mixtape "The Product" assisted by DJ Scream was released on April 15, the release date is one of personal significance to August, as it’s the birthday of his late brother who was gunned down in New Orleans in 2010. The words “Dedicated to my big brother. R.I.P. Melvin LaBranch III, 4.15.86 – 8.31.10” appear on the mixtape’s back cover. The release is a fitting dedication to the brother who inspired August to leave the street life behind and make music his full-time hustle.
