Jordan Rudess' Happy Birthday Improv

On June 28 2011 I lost one of my long time life friends. Bleu Ocean was one of the real rock and roll heroes of his generation. Little known in the commercial world, but loved and a real icon to so many of us. He was the original drummer for the backup band in the Monkees and even more important was the founder of the Ocean Star Band (which I was a member of) of which this song was the theme song that we wrote together. Here it is in a piano arrangement for all of you to enjoy. Please pass on his name. He died while jamming at a gig on his drum set. Rocked until the last minute of his life, as I always knew he would. I'm gonna really miss him.

Opened up the Steinway and improvised a little something to try the new Zoom H1 recorder. I'm pretty impressed. This was my first recording with it and I did not even spend anytime finding a perfect placement, but it still came out very well. Recorded at 44/16 bit/
