Toronto beatsmith Alan Lam’s music making career — one that is  approaching the two decade milestone — is the stuff of legends.  Adopting the pseudonym Stranjah, the Version Recordings founder has built a prolific back catalog of releases highlighted by issuances on heavyweight imprints 31 Records, DSCI4, and seminal Drum & Bass recording label Metalheadz.

When Renegade Hardware headman Clayton Hines announced last June that the following year would be the beloved label’s last, he stated that Hardware would “intend to go out with a bang” with several huge records in the works before the long running outfit was effectively dissolved.  The Reflections LP is one of said huge records, an all-world compilation album featuring a killer VIP of Stranjah‘s drum smasher “Intalus“.

Opening with a decidedly deeper tribal minmalist feel than its original counterpart, the Intalus VIP slowly progresses into familiar territory; twisted synth stabs, nightmarish percussion, punishing drum break choppage, and deep deadly sub bass.

Renegade Hardware has been a catalyst for Drum and Bass music, by not only representing future sounds of the genre but by keeping mindful in paying respect to its roots. REFLECTIONS is one such project. Giving listeners a walk down that old school feel of DnB, bass heavy, soulful, jungle beats from producers such as Loxy, Stranjah, N-17, Ink, Alix Perez, Aspect and more. Constantly pushing sound, championing new talent and ideas. The album's 11 cuts are a sure bet in that Hardware's signature sound lives on with the labels long standing soldiers and new global conscripts.

FUTICAL comes to IN:DEEP Music to present his debut release with the DARK WHITE EP, a curated collection marked by the producer’s deep and soulful sound. The alias of Marek Řehoř, FUTICAL was born in the collision between Řehoř’s background as a pianist and his technological studies in 2014. Since then, FUTICAL has been an active part of the Prague Drum & Bass scene as a DJ and honed his production talents, a pursuit which has borne fruit in the four deftly crafted tracks of the DARK WHITE EP which he delivers for IN:DEEP037.

Beginning with the ominous industrialized tones of its title track, the DARK WHITE EP quickly display’s FUTICAL’s compositional talent upon the foundation of the track’s rock solid low end. From here, FUTICAL provides an EXIT marked by the electric hue and klaxon tone of a bassline that is given ample room to reverberate within the EP’s concrete construction. The surface level of REPORT 44 is swept by gusts of cold harmonic high end, providing an atmosphere in which a garbled radio transmission is met in response with a sequence of razor sharp percussion that slices through the static. Cleared of these harsher elements, WHY U settles into and wistful groove for the EP’s most emotive track, asking its guiding question amongst the echoes of filtered keys and a swiftly flowing drumbeat before fading into nothingness for the EP’s final notes.

A landmark first release for FUTICAL, the DARK WHITE EP sees the Czech producer create a unified sonic space across its four tracks that evolves from the stark atmosphere of its initial selections into the warm ambiances of its closing number. Across all four tracks, FUTICAL displays a commitment to an expertly restrained and deeply focused arrangement that allows each finely crafted element to resound with utmost clarity. With a clear talent for sonic sequences that share a descriptor with the IN:DEEP name, FUTICAL’s DARK WHITE EP finds an eminently natural home on the label for IN:DEEP037.

Antares is a dark and atmospheric, break heavy Jungle project by Josh Stotz.  Conceived in January of 2019, as the Illicit project was put to bed, influenced by darker cinematic landscapes and ambient works.  Part of Ballpark Recordings, Force Recordings, Cause 4 Concern LTD, Hangry Records, Suicide Audio, Monkey Business, Locked Up Music and always more in the works.  Older releases under the Illicit name can be found on Ruffah Ras Records, Mos-Hi, Top Ranking Records, Nuff Stylez (France), and Hum-Fi Drum Digital.  Antares aims to bring a darker cinematic soundscape to modern Jungle.
