As an adult, I have come to outgrow your lap.
I am too heavy for you to carry,
My limbs are too long and there is too much me.
We are almost the same size now.
We share clothes the way we share secrets,
But your arms are my favorite sweater; 
It doesn't matter how much I grow, I will always want to wear it.
Your arms, my favorite place;
I will never be too old for your hugs.
 
When you wish me not to grow up,
I too wish to stay nine years old,
So that maybe you will still be forty two tomorrow.
