A warm welcome to Julien Minarro aka Waxist!

Julien is a Lyon based DJ, producer and co runs the SOL Discos reissue label along side Pascal Rioux (a la @favoriterec) 

I’ve been in touch with Julien for a while now and stoked that he agreed to do a mix for us. His Serendipity show on @lemellotron and Red Stripe Disco mixes have been a big source of inspiration for me over the years!

Waxist has turned out some killer disco edits on labels including Kalakuta Soul, @rainandshinerecords @culturesofsoul & @isleofjurarecords He’s also a dab hand at A&R and been involved in official reissues of some of the rarest disco records out there. His own label SOL Discos has put out 3x 45s and 2x LP comps, so go check those out.

This time Waxist delivers a fab 1 hour mix spanning some his favourite disco & house records!

"This 1 hour DJ mix is 90% vintage disco vinyl - mixed live on 2 x 1210s - accompanied by an analogue reggae doorbell generator with a BOSS Delay pedal, plus a few sexy idents thrown in for good measure.

Recorded at my good friend Mark Dix's house in Barcelona after recently playing the Curtis Audio Cafe in the city - we highly recommend that venue - the best audio set up in the city.

The name of the mix refers to the big black eye I am currently displaying due to an accidental clash of heads last week - yep that's me in the cover shot and that is my black eye.

2013 saw the emergence of East London based studio outfit PAYFONE formed by Phil Passera and Jimmy Day with fellow musical collaborators Chieka Ononye & Royce Wood Junior.

The project set out with the objective that every musical element is 100% original and that no samples were to be used in the creation of these original productions.

After their fast-selling debut 12 'International Smark', PAYFONE continued to deliver a fine blend of electro-disco boogie via releases on New York's Golf Channel Recordings, and London based LENG & DEFECTED Records.

Next 12 inch release ' Put Your Face Away ' is due out in September on the duos own Otis Records imprint.

We have nothing but love and respect for this guy, Divine Situation's Greg Belson who brought us two amazing compilations on Cultures of Soul ( Divine Disco 1&2), filled with crazy good and rare Gospel vibes. Apart from that he shone some light on 2 slices of soul drizzling vinyl as part of Divine Situation via the infamous Moton label. 
If you know Greg already or follow his instagram, it's a great testament of how much you dont know. Almost daily he'll gladly share new finds with you and his mixes are carefully crafted to the last detail with impossible to find, completionists Gospel, Soul, Funk, Boogie and Disco gold. The type of stuff that makes you just wanna give up because you realize you are lightyears behind.
