'Various Assets - Not For Sale 2013' is a collection of some of the music that was made during the Red Bull Music Academy during four early summer weeks in New York City last year. The double CD contains 30 tracks composed, improvised and discovered by the 62 international participants and a cast of high-profile studio team members, who all got their fingers dirty on synths, Mellotrons, vibraphones, drum machines and anything else they could lay their hands on. Enjoy!

Known as Los Angeles' "Ambassador of Boogie Funk," Damon Riddick represents the citizens of the Funkmosphere to the fullest. Anyone who grooves to the likes of Slave, Aurra, early Prince and Prelude Records, will knoe what to do when they hear "No More Love."

La North East Ska*Jazz Orchestra nasce dall’ammirazione e dalla passione per la musica ska-jazz di tre giovani musicisti: Roberto Amadeo, Max Ravanello e Stefano Salmaso. 
Tutti provenienti da varie esperienze nell’ambito della musica caraibica (ska-rocksteady-reggae), e consapevoli del crescente interesse delle nuove generazioni nei confronti della musica in levare, tentano di unire le molte piccole realtà del Friuli Venezia Giulia in un solo e unico energico gruppo! Nasce così, nell’autunno del 2011, un’esplosiva big band che propone i più affascinanti standard jazz con le calde ed incisive sonorità tipiche della musica jamaicana, sullo stile di storici gruppi come Skatalities e Jazz Jamaica All Stars.
L’ensemble comprende persone provenienti da ogni parte della regione, da Pordenone a Trieste, e proprio per questo, oltre che essere un’”orchestra dal suono esclusivo”, rappresenta un importante punto di incontro tra musicisti esordienti e più navigati, in cui ognuno può dare voce alle proprie idee, esprimersi in piena libertà e mettersi in contatto con persone altrimenti molto distanti…tutti fattori determinanti per creare un unico grande contesto musicale in grado di spaziare dallo ska al reggae, generi in grande fermento, sino alle più ricercate sonorità del jazz. 

Grazie al video "Take Five", un'arrangiamento del famoso brano di P. Desmond, è nato il "featuring" con il trombonista di fama internazionale Mr. T-Bone;

---> Dopo una serie di live, ciò si concretizza nel primo lavoro discografico per la big band friulana: 
I primi di Maggio vengono pubblicati un E.P. realizzato in collaborazione con l'associazione Time For Africa, un video di un singolo tratto dal suddetto cd e un vinile dedicato al progetto "Mr. T-Bone meets North East Ska*Jazz Orchestra.

Opening track of the debut album by Italian maestros NORTH EAST SKA JAZZ ORCHESTRA. Two classic jazz tracks  Blue Skies (Irving Berlin, 1926) and In Walked Bud (Thelonious Monk, 1947) merged in a stylish ska-jazz performance.

The album Stompin' And Rollin' includes 10 remakes of jazz and swing classics performed in the Jamaican style of the 60's. From original ska to rocksteady and reggae, the young big band from Triveneto (north east Italy) conveys in this work energetic enthusiasm for Jamaican music, stylishly enriched by the coolness of the dance music of the golden era of swing. 

Stompin' And Rollin' features two outstanding collaborations: Mr. T-Bone (Africa Unite, Bluebeaters) and Olly Riva (Shandon, Olly Riva &amp; The Soul Rockets) who join forces with the voices of Freddy Frenzy, Rosa Mussin and  Michela Grena, the ten-piece brass section and the sound rhythm base of this young big band.  

The album has been recorded at Studio Jork in Koper (Slovenia) in March 2015 and mixed and mastered in The Volcano Lounge, Sherman Oaks (California) by Brian Dixon (ex The Aggrolites).

A sublime disco track from this early 80s Milwaukee family/kid band. The "C" is for Charles (Smith), the band's leader. Sweet Thang records also released a hopelessly rare 12" EP by the group, who had changed their name to Dazzle in the interim. The EP features a nice synth and percussion heavy remix of 'In the Disco', as an instrumental and retitled 'Disco's Out'. 1980.

"C" On the Funk - In the Disco (Sweet Thang)

The rare 45 mix of Penny Goodwin's classic early 70s down-tempo rare groove. It excludes the LP versions double-time ending where Penny starts ranting about acid and track marks, but probably ends up being a generally more cohesive piece of music. Penny is from Milwaukee and still sings here occasionally to this day. The sessions that produced this record and the rest of her 'Portrait of a Gemini' LP were done in Chicago, however, with Richard Evans stepping in on arrangements. His string charts in particular really add a lot to this track. The title is taken from an old Jewish proverb, with lyrics cleverly adapting the sentiment for the switched-on kids of the late 60s/early 70s generation. Sy Lefco, the writer, penned many other tunes for black and white groups in Milwaukee at the time- effortlessly crisscrossing genre and racial boundaries.

Ska , Reggae , Tamla Motown , Stax and Atlantic got my Mojo started . Followed by David Bowie , Lou Reed and Roxy Music . This was also cemented by Youth Culture alliance . 
Having been a prolific and to a lesser extent today , a Club attendee my taste for music is on going . At various stages of my life I have played my music as a Dj .
For a period I was contributor for a magazine that specialises in Soul old and new . It is called Manifesto , published in the UK . A fantastic enjoyable and informative specialist publication .
