I intend to record with lyrics, which will be way out of my comfort zone.  The song is produced through fusion. sprung to nurture the reclamation of self-esteem tarnished from systemic racism including that of the police and so much more... Mohammad Ali said "Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee."  Bruce Lee said that one must “be like water,” in fighting and in life, they must be able to adapt to the shifting and uncertain environments. 

To achieve either, you must have wu wei, a Taoist concept meaning, “non-action”, or more specifically, “action that is spontaneous and effortless, and I assert both apply to you and me.

I assert “In order to control ourselves we must first accept ourselves by going with and not against our true nature.”  Remember that muscle memory is what occurs when we practice the same techniques to the point that it becomes second nature, where you can call upon it without thought. Too much thought hinders style, so in this respect, wu wei is valuable. Flow abounds in the “float like a butterfly” quote.

“Floating” implies a stationary presence.  At the same time it is wise to remember a bee can only sting once, because the very act of doing so causes it to die. Thus, the bee already knows how to sting, but must learn when to sting, lest it wastes its life.  

So floating, bee's, stings, Mohammad Ali and Bruce Lee explains what? “The non-action of the wise man is not inaction,” (Merton). By Ali simply refusing to fight in Vietnam, Ali spoke as loudly as any protest. So can and shall we when we develop our own self-esteem and our heart resonance.  As we develop these through heart resonance we can achieve anything without having to sting.

Before I created this Peace I was asked to create an expression of art that produced memories of greatest Joy or Sorrow.  I thought of the birth of both my first born to my last born for joy.  I also thought of the last time I wanted to end my life.

Actually, I would later learn I did not want to end my life but instead I just wanted the pain to stop sooner than later.  I knew I could weather the storm and things would get better.  I just did not want to endure any more.  Regardless, the memory of that time would have sufficed for the greatest sadness.

But when it came time to create  this PEACE that my most joyous moment is and should always be the present moment, for I am alive and the past is a memory that I believe should not be considered any more joyous than the next, because the judgment of good and bad is subjective.  More than that we are normally wrong..

How many times have you thought something was good that later turned out to not be so good?  How many things have you thought to be bad, that later turned out to be good.

So in spite of the pain I endured during the day for on this day I was struggling from gout and difficulty breathing.  No matter the fact that my circumstances were not fully as I dreamed.  I knew I was blessed and the culmination of the memories on this date were as magnificent as they come for I was alive and the earth was still rotating on its axis.

So sit back and enjoy this peace and remember you create your own reality.  Why not make it something beautiful?

A love story around a boy and girl and the Orphanages they hoped to build and the pain and loss of a dream worth so much due to grown up and the choices they make.

I have been through a lot from August 25th to the present.  I have moved on from opportunity to opportunity, embracing all aspects of my life and expressing gratitude to our creator and all those I love.

This peace encapsulates so many emotion as I recount all I have been through, the disappointments, the heartache, betrayal and more.  However, I have learned that it was all for my best whether it felt or feels like it or not.

I will add that "What Could Have Been." is a Ying/Yang of expression for on one hand I feel a loss of what I feel I missed out on because of choices others have made.  At the same time, it is an illustration of expression on what others have missed out on because of the beliefs they held and choices they made to not associate with me.

The music continues to flow and give life, heal, empower, uplift and inspire and I hope you will find it precious for it is precious to me and from me. I hope it will add something to you of value and worth.

Today is April 18, 2022 and I completed this song two nights ago. I had the privilege to go outside and gaze up at what appeared to be a full moon. The stars were beautiful and all week long I had been doing research on so many peers that I deeply respect and at some point there was a reckoning inside of me and I knew that I was one with each of them. We were peers.

Yes, I have so much to learn to unleash the true power of my healing medicine music. Indeed, I produce Soul Food, Know Thyself, and Seize The Day music. Of this I am sure and I know longer feel like an imposture when folks look me in the eye and declare I am like Miles Davis, Sun Ra, Coltrane, Yanni, Vangelis, Kitaro, and Tangerine Dreams before everyone knew who they were.

I was once ashamed of how I create these sounds, frequencies and vibrations but today I hold my head high and am grateful to be alive to share my vibe with each of you that take the time to read.

As I learn to let go and focus on what I do have and can do, and as I practice the act of appreciating and expressing gratitude for everything in my life, including the experiencing of things unwanted, a deeper level of happiness and joy forms in my heart and is expressed in my daily living.

Yes I am living and maybe on the outside my life does not amount to much, or appears to be a string or line of failures but to me I feel like the billionaire I am.

I pray that everyone on this planet can feel how I feel at this particular moment, where life seems to come full circle and you recognize the genius inside of you, that is you.

When I say genius, I do not mean anything that could or should be perceived as arrogance. To the contrary, it is a sense of peace, acceptance, and knowing that surpasses my ability to articulate in words in this present moment but I pray the message is relayed through the tones and vibration of this musicpeace.

Initially, I was going to simply call this "I AM." However as I reflected on the title I understood that Because I Am, this musicpeace exists. At this moment I feel and inner calm. I feel peace, love, joy, happiness and more.

As for the photo by Valentino Casavecchia, it signifies a home coming, a coming full circle.  As a child I lived in Germany. 

I do not know if I walked exactly here as a child. I do know this place was familiar to me and so Because I Am, It Is revered.

This musicpeace was birthed out of the depth of emotions I felt in my heart thinking about two men for different reasons that share a common purpose of making the world a better place.

The person the peace was created for is Teguh Osternik, who is an artist who produces underwater sculptures for coral to grow upon, in an effort to restore coral reefs. He is a gifted painter and artist on many levels.

The second person is Pastor John Carey, who I had the privilege of sharing quality time with who has dedicated his life improving the lives of others.

The energy and vibration of this song is to honor both. It was written to honor Teguh but to also commemorate the incredible day spent with both.

Serenity - You & Me

This song is written for Vessy Mink, aka Vecelina. She is a ball of love, energy, with a tremendous desire to do great.

My intention is to honor her as she is always honoring others. She is a precious soul and this music is my effort to tap into the ether to express what I sense and feel as I watch Vessy be Vessy.

It is a sight to see and may you be so blessed to be touched by such a precious soul.

This song was originally named Kate's Discovery and the song embodies the noise and energy that I perceived swarmed around and threw her,

Kate is a Generation Z. She seems lost and confused fighting for the strength to want to live. she is young, beautiful, and creative but has no idea what she wants to do with her life.

Instead she remains high (under the influence) as much as she can. But to me, Kate remind me of old energy, the sort of energy that creates life like a BIG BANG energy.

I shared that with her, hoping it would get her to view life differently, but I do not feel I had much of an impact.

The song shall forever be Kate's Discovery but I dropped Kate from the title for the mainstream, for we all have been on a journey for self discovery and that is what is at the heart of this peace.

Discovery

Charles Butler McVay III (August 31, 1898 – November 6, 1968) was an valiant American naval officer and the commanding officer of the cruiser USS Indianapolis tasked with delivering one of the bombs that would be dropped on Japan during WWII.

His ship was sunk on their mission to return, and was ordered to return without an escort. Most of the crew was lost, many eaten by sharks because his initial May Day's were ignored believing they must be a fake for his ship was not supposed to be in the area.

Someone had to be scapegoated for the fiasco and he was court marshalled. Many American's help him personally responsible for the death of many of his sailors and folks kept harassing him and calling him relentlessly until he committed suicide.

He was a good man who cared deeply for his crew and stayed in the water longer than he had too. Ironically the Japanese soldier, Commander Hashimoto, responsible for sinking his ship was called to testify in his case, and sided with Captain McVay's defense that he had done all he could to avoid the sinking of his ship, but was court marshalled none-the-less.

This same soldier would become a buddhist after the war and spend the remainder of his life advocating for Captain McVay's exoneration.  In October 2000, the United States Congress passed a Sense of Congress resolution that McVay's record should reflect that "he is exonerated for the loss of the USS Indianapolis." President Clinton also signed the resolution. Commander Hashimoto died five days before the exoneration (on 25 October).

He should have never been scapegoated. The Pentagon and the politicians should have been ashamed of themselves.  This song was written to honor him.

This is about raw power and energy and is dedicated to Sean McCully, the owner of Gaijin Izakaya in Singapore.

From my perspective he is a hard worker and full of so much passion and hard work. He rocks hard, thus the energy expressed in this musical peace.

The music his restaurant creates is a force of nature, thus the title of the song.

In 2016 or 2017 I wrote in a document I titled "The Life I Choose To Live" that I wanted to create music to celebrate the lives of many people I had respect, admiration, and empathy for. 

This song was written for the one and only Prince Rogers Nelson, commonly known as PRINCE.

I am not going to write a lot other than to say, one evening after watching a documentary on his last days and meditating on the pain, the suffering, and the loss of such a precious human being due to an accidental overdose of fentanyl.

All my emotions came to a head a few months ago and I sat at a picnic table outside my apartment under a star lit sky and composed this peace.

I believed I could feel his essence as this song came forth and when I was finished and felt to myself well done, it began to gently rain. I could not help cry and feel a sense that this song did just to my deceased brother.

Never Going To Give Up

My latest song, What The Fuck (WTF) has sparked a desire to create a video and lyrics.  I see the song from two vantage points.  One, all the meaning people lump into words to make one word allegedly acceptable and others words unacceptable so “FUCK” is perceived as a bad word but saying someone is “UNDESIREABLE” is not a bad word but conveys an unpleasant message.

To call me a “Nigger” is not palatable but to say I am an “Undesirable” is deemed less offensive and to that I want to say WTF! (as means of only one example).

The fact that people make an issue with one word over another when the reality is that “PURE EXPERIENCE HAS NO REAL MEANING” screams that neither the word “Fuck” or “Nigger” having meaning.  We contaminate each expression with our beliefs, experiences, perceptions, as does the user in many cases.  So with this song on one side I want to draw the listener’s attention to the fact that getting all worked up over the fact that the word “FUCK” is in this song is kinda crazy.

The other vantage of this song is I want to contrast the positives and negatives of things you want to say WTF.  For example a brother being lynched, a woman being raped, the tanks running over unarmed civilians in the Tianamen Square Massacre of June 4, 1989, children soldiers in Africa, human trafficking, the polluting of our environment, the inhuman treatment of sentinel beings (human & animal), domestic violence, black on black crime, the burning of the American Flag, the attack on Civil War Heros of the South, especially someone like Nathan Beford Forrest (who has become sort of a hero to me), MLK, Malcolm and Ghandi being assassinated, and whatever else I can think of like American’s elected Donald Trump in spite of his sexist and racist remarks and actions or because of them.  Twin Towers, rudeness to Vietnam Vets, Hiroshima & Nagasaki, Nuclear Explosion, Holocaust, Rwanda, Apartheid (South Africa), The ethics of detonating a nuclear bomb on a civilian population????, U.S. Led overthrowing of governments, U.S. Backing of Sadam Hussein against Iran, Genocide Against Native American, Japanese Internment camps, Civil Rights Assaults on Peaceful Demonstrators.  Church Bombings (WTF), Attacks on Mosques, KKK, Misuse of the Swastika symbol, Abu Dhabi Guantanomo Detainee Treatment (delicate issue) – POW Treatment (valuable information retrieved but do the ends ultimately justify the means???), Distortion of Words to Make White Pure and Clean and Black, dark and evil and paste a world in COLOR so that people around the globe struggle with color issues (whitening lotions to lighten skin all while the creators of this feeling of inadequacy lay in the sun and burn trying to get tan (brown skin) and pay millions on tanning booths, creams etc to be brown)(WTF)!!!! Then the other side of the coin, Malcolm X seeking racial harmony after his trip to Mecca, Martin’s I have a Dream Speech and extending a hand towards forgiveness in spite of Selma, Montgomery, the bombings, beatings and Lynching’s, General Nathan Bedford Forrest’s address to the Pole-Bearers Association after the Civil War (1875) embracing racial harmony, every day examples of forgiveness, loving, care and compassion.  Images or video of actions of peace.  I want the song to end with all these strong images of people saying what the fuck to something positive and powerful.

The point of this project is not simply to entertain, it is to make people think in a non-threatening and preachy way.

What The Fuck or "WTF" (extended version)

I do not think my music is a defined genre.  I am learning to fuse different genres that appeal to what I feel inside.  I recently read an article in Wired about Steve Lacy, a hip hop producer out of California who categorized his music as Plaid like the clothes, and I liked that.  So I would say this song is Plaid with tension!

It has many patterns and colors that work together in harmony but I intentionally put tension and clashes because there is a struggle going on inside my music for FREEDOM.

If you get knocked down something put you down that is not in sync, thus the clashes and tension, but you are mustering everything inside you to get back on up.

Hold your head and walk with pride.  You do not any other reason than the fact you had the power to get back on up.  You can have other reason but I am declaring you do not need any other,

So celebrate!  Yes, Get Back On Up and Celebrate!!!

As in life, the same with this song, other noise is still there saying you did this or you are that but you get some pep in your step and some hop in your dance cause nothing is going to keep you down.

This song was birth out of a depth and magnitude of despair and grief and illustrates to me the redemptive power and resilience of the human spirit even when we are enduring turmoil, loss, and disruptive forces.

Indeed we are always the master even in our most abandoned state and do not have to be misled by the illusion and false belief that we are weak.

Tumultuous winds will blow and it is our duty by virtue of waking up to recognize these gales of as the gusts of winds to teach us to fly even under the most unlikely and unpleasant circumstances for we were born to soar.  

So never give up on that which you are creating.  You will find the key and open the door and if not just kick the damn thing down!

I Know Who I Am

This song is created as a reminder that each and every day there is always a reason to celebrate and is created and dedicated to my son, Leila Steinberg, and Mi Ae.

Through the loss of a loved one we must remember that transition does not equal loss and there is always something in the here and now worth celebrating.

Rise

I was literally on what was potentially my DEATH BED when I produced this song.  My lungs were constricted and those around and afar were sure I had COVID-19.  I could barely breath for more than 75% of my oxygen intake was gone in that I could barely bring any air in.

I tried with all I could to boil salt water, and inhale vapors to loosen my chest to no avail.  I sat on a bamboo bed adjacent a former rice paddy, in the middle of the night realizing if I panicked I could literally die.

I was anxious and the anxiety was building and I knew I had to remain calm so I grabbed my iPhone 6 and opened GarageBand.  What took place was a battle of the WILL.  After I finished, I listened to this song over and over again for hours until the sun would rise.  In my heart I knew if I could get to the sea I would breath but this would require me to walk approximately 1.5 miles in the state and condition that I was in.

I placed my black jogging pants on and a t-shirt dawned with a requisite face mask and began my journey.  One foot in front of another I walked, struggling for each intake of air.  So many times I wanted to stop and say the journey is too great I CANNOT BREATHE!  Regardless, step my step I walked and each time I wanted to turn back, I resisted.

The entire way I played this song over and over and over again.  My breathing did not get better but I believed I was forcing my lungs to keep trying to expand.  I finally made it to the shore and walked down into the water.  I removed my mask and continued to listen to this beat accepting I AM ONE WITH THE UNIVERSE AND THE UNIVERSE IS ONE WITH ME. 

I profess this regularly when I normally have my walks to this same location, but with earnest I declared I am one with the Universe and the same power in the sea is the same power that flows through me.  As I declared this I felt a pop in my lungs and I took my first deep breath since the whole ordeal began and I COULD BREATHE!

I will make no conclusion or deductions other than to say this this song helped keep me alive and is the encapsulation of my emotional and spiritual journey with the outcome captured before it became real.

I SAID NO TO ANXIETY AND SPROUTED MY WINGS TO FLY. 

I do not know how this song will impact you but like all my music it is intended to empower, uplift, heal and help you to believe in WHO YOU ARE.  We are all interconnected and interdependent.  Take from me what I freely give and be FREE.
