Rumblemunk Originals & Remixes

I started this bootleg in 2012, but never got it much further than a couple verses and a stubbed in breakdown. I revisited it in 2017 and added a bunch more stuff, but it still didn't work. Fast forward to 2021 and the upcoming Space Cowboy's Breakfast of Champions and I knew I needed to finish something, ANYTHING, for my set.

The track had legs but I needed help to find them, and that's when Simon Shackleton announced his 1:1 mentoring services (mixingmasteringmentoring.com). I scheduled a bunch of sessions, and we got to work. 3 weeks later, after cutting and pasting and deleting and rewriting, it finally breathed to life.

I hope you enjoy my take on this early 2000s classic, and it makes you "shake that thing" on the dance floor!

Look for the "How it started, how it's going" into the track's production soon! I'll dive into the original idea and intent, with a spliced track of all the versions so you can hear the changes over time.

Shake That Thing (Get Busy Bootleg) [FREE DOWNLOAD]

I am Ukraine. Or least my grandmother was.

Other than heritage, I don't have a direct connection to the land, language, or people. When the invasion began, Ukraine was on my mind constantly. This track started as something else in late 2021, but as the invasion continued, musical ideas formed from the news I was absorbing, and what I could only imagine the Ukraine people are experiencing.

There is a single synth, affectionately referred to as the "wobble" in the project file, that is the solo instrument in the track. It doesn't move much in pitch, and instead it uses rhythm and oscillation to dance and fight through the soundscape. It evolves as you listen, telling a story. Whatever story you hear, understand that this is a song of hope.

Special thanks to the Ukraine soldiers of Snake Island for their very important contribution to this track.

I had been using Timo Maas’ Dooms Night remix as a comp track for another project, when my brain randomly smushed it together with my favorite Eminem track. Two great things taste great together right? I finished it in less than a week, just in time for the Space Cowboys Halloween Hoedown, and a record for me since most tracks take months and years to finish. Thanks to strick9 for playing it at the Brass Tax party too!

The artwork is based on the Timo Maas remix cover, with different pixelated layers to represent how the track was cut up. Eminem always has the same expression in his headshots, which is that of a runway model so… it seemed appropriate to include him in the art.

UnSCruz — Santa Cruz's Burning Man Regional Campout — is my favorite event of the year, where my burner fam from the Bay Area and my hometown merge and dance, sing, and be silly for a whole weekend. This Friday night set was super special as I got a chance to experiment with some peak-time Nisene vibes and the crowd was ON POINT!  Sweat on the walls. Unforgettable. Thank you <3

I've been deep diving in Simon Shackleton's Piece of Me release, and I spent one weekend listening to all the tracks on headphones with a low-pass filter set to 40Hz.  I've been trying to work out why my tracks 1) don't have motion in the low end and 2) can't be maximized loud enough before distorting.  The answers are hidden in a REALM below 60Hz.

This track also represents a departure from my usual production style, which is to work on a track for months and squeeze all the joy and life out of it.  This track was produced in two weekends.

In 2011, a well-known politician made a bid to be a well-known political party's candidate for president of a well-known nation.  The bid failed, but not before said candidate released a little-known but oh-so-powerful press statement.  A well-known news satire TV show hired a well-known actor for a dramatic reading of said statement.  This track is the result.
