Bebel Gilberto & Joyce Muniz Team Up for Special Remix of “Deixa.”

Longtime friends & fellow Brazilians Bebel Gilberto and Joyce Muniz have teamed up for a very special Beatport Exclusive Remix of the track “Deixa.” “Deixa" was the first single released last year from Bebel’s much acclaimed Grammy nominated new album “Agora” so it’s fitting that it’s now also the first  track to be remixed from the album. “Deixa" (Joyce Muniz Remix) will be available on all platforms 9th April. 
 
About Bebel Gilberto:
World renowned and multi-Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Bebel Gilberto has been enchanting fans and critics worldwide since her solo debut release in 1986. She catapulted onto the global music scene with a track on the celebrated compilation CD, RED HOT + RIO, followed by the worldwide success of her hit breakout album Tanto Tempo in 2000. The album featured her trademark electronic bossa nova, taking over clubs around the world and positioning Bebel as one of the top-selling Brazilian artists in the U.S. since the '60s. Critically-acclaimed albums to follow included Bebel Gilberto (2004), on which she refined her sound to create an acoustic lounge style that showcased her strengths as a Brazilian composer, and Momento (Six Degrees 2007), which masterfully showcased her skills at fusing all her musical styles. Bebel’s 2009 Grammy-nominated album All in One (Verve), brought to forefront more of Bebel's personality and love for organic rhythms. In 2014, Bebel Gilberto released a beautiful concert DVD called Bebel Gilberto in Rio in Brazil, featuring a superb live concert on the beaches of Rio. Returning to her trademark sultry Brazilian rhythms infused with electronic beats, Bebel followed up with the gorgeous new studio album Tudo, released in August 2015 on Sony to great media acclaim.  Her highly anticipated new record Agora produced by Thomas Bartlett (Sufjan Stevens, St. Vincent) was released by PIAS Recordings 21 Aug 2020.

KAYYAK is part of the Hekaya Collective, based in Zurich. They started organizing parties at Club Zukunft, the Homebase of Kalabrese. Kalabrese became friend and mentor and started supporting the young talent Kayyak. And when he came up with two funky song-scetches Kalabrese was thrilled and the collaboration started. The A-Side „Make No Time“ has a strong afro-like guitar theme and a driven melodic bassline on top the famous rumpel-groove. A positive happy ride. On the B- Side the duo gets deeper and create a fantastic late night jam. The duo sings „Loose your fear and find your partner, make your way to relaxation“ while the groove gets more and more hypnotic, Kalabrese sits on the drums and finds a way of relaxation without losing the focus on the steady beat.

Arnau Obiols and KAYYAK met just last year through their girlfriends who happen to be sisters. As one can imagine it did not take long until the two brothers-in-law sat in the studio together for the first time accompanied by Swiss bass player Jules Martinet and with vocals by South African Singer B’utiza as well as Mozambican vocalist Tcheco who is part of the legendary band Ghorwane (Real World Records). The energy during the production of these songs came to life and resulted in the two originals on this record. Folkloric tradition with modern programming, acoustic drums, percussion with acid, echo feedback and psychedelic sounds all infused by funky basslines.

In addition they invited Kalabrese and MLiR to do a remix. Both of them being artists close at heart for Arnau and Kay.
