Long Way From Home [Radio Edit]

The second single from debut LP, "Rock My Heart". Listeners have told me that this is one of their favorite tracks from the album. 

The song was recorded at Piselli Studios in Naples, Italy. Piselli means sweet peas in Italian, a nickname given to my son who was a baby at the time. This was my home studio converted from a wet sauna in our basement. As you can imagine, extra acoustic treatment was required to dampen the reflections and echoes. To add to that, I was not satisfied with the treatment options offered in Italy, so decided to order everything from the US. The first order got lost but then mysteriously arrived one day while the second one was on the way. Then the postal service stated they would send the materials back if I did not pick it up the same day. Since it was oversized, my friend Sean pitched in with his truck and we got it all moved. I then assembled the bass traps and hired someone to set them up in the studio (hung diagonally between the ceiling and upper walls). This treatment made a huge difference in the overall sound of recorded instruments. On top of the treatment, there was more fun to be had as I dealt with various Italian voltage conversion issues for equipment. It was all a great learning experience and took many hours. I am proud of the work done on the album and hope you find something you enjoy. I also recommend checking out the song, "The Circle", one of my favorites. 

Since we moved a few years ago and Piselli Studios is no more, for various reasons, I have not dedicated the same attention to a home studio in our new location. While I still have some home studio capabilities for some instruments, I found it a better process to record vocals and most guitars in a professional studio as we move somewhat often. I hope these lessons learned will show as I introduce new music in 2018. Thanks for listening!
