Trombone and Live Electronics

This is a recording (with some slightly odd stereo artefacts) taken at a Diffuse Concert (diffuse2.wordpress.com/computer-improvisation/) of a partly generative electronic music system called Isidores; each time it plays, it combines pre-defined musical material in new ways. It was created with Aengus Martin's Agent Designer software which aims to enable musician's who are not computer programmers, to create generative and interactive music systems. Isidores Performance

This is a recording (April 2012) of James Nichols (Rhodes) and Evan Dorrian (Drumkit) improvising with three autonomous musical agents. Two are running during the first half: Dan MacKinlay's Particle Swarm Optimisation system, 'wherein a flock of sound grains attempt to work collectively to formulate a harmonic response to incoming sounds from other performers without clashing with them'; and James' Stochastic Improviser (responding to analogue inputs). Just over half way through, a third system takes over. This one was created with Aengus Martin's Agent Designer software which aims to enable musician's who are not computer programmers to create generative and interactive music systems. Rhodes, Drums and Three Autonomous Agents

A performance of Backgammon at the Eugene Goossens Hall in the ABC Centre as part of the 9th International Conference on Creativity and Cognition, in which Ollie Bown (www.olliebown.com) collaborates with an autonomous agent to play a large Ableton Live set. Ollie's choices and those of the agent are (very) loosely informed by the rules of the titular board game; reverberant dice rolls intermittently wash over the shimmering sound texture.
