Orphx makes a striking comeback with a six-track EP on KR3, celebrating Rich & Christie’s three-decade career bridging the industrial music and techno scenes. 

Theikos EP - spans multiple eras and moods, merging raw, ancient production methods with modern interpretations. The result is a sonic landscape that bridges pulsing club rhythms with the intense energy of extreme electronics and death industrial. The title track, "Theikos," began in 1998 and was only finalized in 2024, years of evolution shaping it into a truly formidable piece.

This 12" release stands out as a deep and fully realized body of work, filled with personal insight and resonant echoes of a primordial world.

The standard edition comes in a sleek single-pocket gatefold sleeve, featuring a 1997 photograph taken in Toronto by Michael Nine, capturing the duo in their early years and visually anchoring the album to the roots of their sound. Limited and special editions include an exclusive booklet with archival photos of Orphx and a poster, along with a promotional videos featuring remastered and reimagined archival footage created especially for this release.

@fieldrecords concludes its Waterworks trilogy with Kiso Three Rivers, a new full-length by Tokyo composer and sound artist @yui_onodera. Combining minimal instrumentation, spatial sound design, and field recordings, the album reflects on the confluence of the Kiso, Nagara, and Ibi rivers and the shared water engineering history of Japan and the Netherlands.

A homemade one take re-creation of my set from MERGE, a collaborative free party on 6 Sept 2025 ran by some of Meanjin/Brisbane's leading techno collectives. For my 9:30-11pm set I wanted to bring the audience from a slower, more housey vibe, up towards the peak time driving techno that our DJs are known for.

Being a re-creation (not recorded on the night), this isn't exactly accurate, but I at least know the rough order I played my tracks in. I made a few extra mistakes live and I guess I also played a bit slower, because this has a few extra tracks on the end which I didn't get to play. As always, track list is below:

Lost In Ether | P R E M I E R E | Mala Herba - Siemieniec I (POROSTY remix)[White Forest Inc]

The track titles on Kamikaze Space Programme’s latest offering for Mote Evolver are taken from the chilling techno-criticism and dystopian visions of the late J.G. Ballard’s fiction, a thinker whose work has always lent itself well to music on the razor’s edge of modernity. Keep in mind, though, that this is no simple tribute to that mastermind of speculative fiction, but a translation of his highwire suspense and hyper-modern aesthetics into rhythmic and incisive electronic music.

The follow-up “Low Flying Aircraft” is another strong take on this affective mix of anxiety and release; its motif of tactile ‘slamming door’ percussion and metallic accents making listeners envision a labyrinthine complex full of rigidly enforced secrets and classified information.
 
For those who are curious to hear the sounds of urban overload and dark dreams compressed into one coherent and captivating release, Kamikaze Space Programme has delivered in a big way with this EP. Fuelled by the sensibility that the here-and-now is as strange and unpredictable as any science fiction, this music won’t disappoint anyone who still looks to techno as the music of new ideas.
