Running was conceptualized at the Sound Design Department of the Art University Theatre Academy in Helsinki, Finland in 2012. Its members Eero Pulkkinen and Teemu Iltola bonded over sound installations and site-specific DIY art that lives outside public institutions and white gallery spaces. Their music, while considered electronic, thrives to exist in its own universe and refuses to wear a timestamp. From the conceptual and performance-focused live shows to experimental sound art and long-form composition, Running are in charge of the design of their own ecosystem. Their previous work has ranged from using abandoned buildings as instruments, 72 hour-lasting live performances, and collaborations with the Nigerian afro-beat artist, Tiger.

Their new full length, For Us By Us, is a collection of songs from 2015–2018. Across its eight tracks minimal synth work compliments the emotive and stunning songs and their multilayered arrangements. Rhythmic and percussive elements are mostly re-imagined with repetitive melodic patterns. Influenced by the melodic sensibilities of pop music, as well as contemporary classical composers, the LP gives you a wave of eerie familiarity – like meeting an old friend you no longer recognize.
