For fans of the music that we promote Roel Funcken probably needs little introduction. A legend in his own right with releases dating back more than 23 years on labels such as n5MD, Ad Noiseam, Schematic, Analogical Force and his own imprints. Roel was also the organiser of the Mindcamp events in The Netherlands that featured the best IDM artists and is one of our biggest heroes and a true inspiration. Did you know Roel also makes beautiful paintings? The artwork for this mix is one example, but we urge you to check out his other works.

Defrag is extreme sound design and audio rhythmic experimentation of Jeff Dodson, a composer and sound designer living in Los Angeles CA.

Defrag's influences like IDM, dubstep and experimental abstract glitch, filter into his music. With his classical background giving it a more cinematic progression. Orchestrated strings, piano, classic analogue synths and software processing add up to a fusion of analogue warmth, modern classical and raw digital abstraction.

That he chooses instead to make his attention to detail the vehicle for his songs rather than their focus is not only admirable, it’s a definitive comment on his priorities and where they lie. Defrag makes complicated music, but you can completely forget that in the moment and just experience it.

Had to pitch Mick's track down slightly but I couldn't unhear some similarity between Mick's awesome DOOM track and the Doctor Who theme.  Mixing and editing these 2 beasts provided more of a challenge than I though because they're both so dense.  Chopped up
Mick's track for better transitions to the Who theme and to keep it in key.  Enjoy!



Doctor Doom

I recently found an old mix of this tune whilst working towards my upcoming release for ONSET AUDIO. This tune will not be one it, and is seperate.
This one is originally from 2013-ish, but I've since lost most of the original content due to user error, and ended up getting frustrated with where it headed.
It's a bit more frantic experimental DnB than that half-time and other stuff Iv'e been doing, and what's to come this year. But I thought It may stand out on it's own.
I decided to load up the last stereo master of the tune I had in to ableton, rearrange it, and add some extra sound design and spice, and see what happens.
