Having exploding into the year with a spotless ‘Best Of 2013’ collection and J.Man’s skank-savvy Jungle bomb ‘Road Block’, they’re now ready to unleash their biggest, boldest and most confident manoeuvre to date; Run Tingz Originals. Building on their established pedigree for original vocal productions, Bristol’s leading Jungle imprint digs deeper into the scene’s inherent foundations with the first in a series of completely original musical compositions. 

A document of fundamental roots and future; ‘Fully Loaded’ is poised to set the summer festival season ablaze. A joint-force creation by label manager Ed Garrett, Jungle Drummer’s-protégé Tom Derryman (aka. Breakah) and guitar virtuoso Jonny Evans; recorded at the legendary J&J and Invader Studios in Bristol which are owned by none other than Portishead’s Jim Barr and Geoff Barrow, the project is steeped in heritage and rich in contemporary production. Add to this the distinctive lyrical patter of German based vocalist Doubla J; the first of many future projects with Run Tingz, Doubla was headhunted by the label after last year’s impeccable remix of Dread Squad’s ‘Full Time’ on their ‘Digital Rules’ EP. A prize player in this multi-faceted project, his unique vocal talent is already setting a new benchmark in Jungle, Reggae, Hip Hop and Bass Music alike. 

Built entirely from organic elements, everything from the warm organ blasts to the slick, sick guitar licks to the party-minded sample discharges and the full-bodied insatiable drums, everything about ‘Fully Loaded’ screams serious class and authenticity. Complete with Doubla’s dancehall dynamics, it’s the first time the label founders have expressed their influences, inspirations and passion at this level… And it leaves you hungry for more!

In-keeping with their top rankin Junglist profile, Run Tingz have also curated three killer remixes. Each one designed for raw floor devastation, they cover all corners of the ever-expanding Drum & Bass universe. First up is the signature UK Jungle remix from the Run Tingz Cru themselves. Retaining the big live drum swing and distinctive organ hums of the original, they super-charge the groove with finesse. With skippy breakbeats, mischievous fills and an arrangement that just keeps on giving, it takes the label founders full circle as they remix their own original material with full attention to dance floor destruction. 

Next up is Levela. One of the scene’s most unique individuals, Levela’s productions have found their way across the world via the likes of Datsik and Skrillex. With a powerful jump up sound that has infiltrated ears way beyond the genre, Levela’s profile is skyrocketing by the day. Check his gnarly bass-bugged rub of ‘Fully Loaded’ and you’ll understand just why. 

Last but definitely not least is Run Tingz’ very own J.Man. Fresh from causing his very own ‘Road Block’, the Bristol badman unleashes a deep Jungle jam that’s underpinned with big bulbous subs, nagging skanks and drums that roll relentlessly. Instant dancefloor sweetness, J.Man has an innate ability to construct a riddim that fits vocals as if it’s the original itself. This is no exception.

From Birmingham to London and through the Rabbit Hole, 90’s underground icon Cheshire Cat, known for his work with Leftfield and Bally Sagoo, appeared floating in a tree outside the studio. The control room was immediately transported by the power of Jah Ionizer to Wonderland. Aries & Jacky put the headphones out the window, held the mic, and recorded Cheshire Cat’s fantastic allegorical fables of life, love, women and weed.

Five riveting tales of adventure start with classic lover’s music meets bubbling jungle on ‘I’m Sure’, a romantic conversation from the man who’s normally happy with ‘Just the Herbs’. Cheshire explains just how much lyric can come from results of exposure to the healing of the nation. Of course no conversation about the trees can be complete without the appearance of a ‘Police Officer’, and the sage advice given by Mr. Cat would be well overstood and heeded by overzealous constabulary, globally. Moving forward, ‘Troddin On’ reveals an irrepressibly positive point of view and the reason that Cheshire Cat is always smiling when he throws his corn. Since the 90’s he was known in the dance as ‘Bounty Hunter’, and to complete the musical selection for this EP we dug deep into our soundclash collection for some authentic cassette flavour!

The first incarnation of the ‘Tingz Nah Run We’ series kicks off with brand new material from the label bosses themselves. Alongside the unmistakable sound of LMK’s sweet Reggae vocals, we’re pleased to bring you the resurgence and execution of a fresh new sound from the Bristol based studio, a slab of bass-lead, amen filled Jungle / Drum & Bass. Far from an isolated sonic experiment, this is a taste of things to come from the forthcoming ‘Pond Life’ EP due to land next Spring on Run Tingz Originals.
 
The rest of the LP is comprised of a badass selection of original material and remixes which range from Bladerunner’s trademark sub-heavy rhythms, a unique head-nodder from the Jungle don Gold Dubs, some serious Ragga Jump Up business from Levela, Bigspin and Kutz, the current rolling party-sound of Audiomission, an Amen banger from the boys behind Born On Road, as well a few classic cuts of the Run Tingz Dubwise sound from producers including Kursiva, Issac Maya, Frisk & Solstice and the Numa Crew.

Roll up, roll up... the Dancehall Extravaganza is coming to town. Selecta J-Man & Blackout JA have pulled out all the stops to make an EP influenced by classic Dancehall in a UK Jungle style. These 4 tracks of fire make for a fitting follow up to Selecta J-Man’s Super Sharp Mixtape released back in April 2018.

The title track ‘Dancehall Extravaganza’ features record breaker Daddy Freddy on the hook delivering maximum syllables per second over a heavy Ragga Drum & Bass workout.

Next up a collaborative effort between J-Man, Aries, Blackout, & legendary Jamaican vocalist Courtney Melody. ‘Ninja Mi Ninja’ 2018 Jungle mix is an instant reload.

‘Unite’ warms in with the bassline from Stalag Riddim complimented by some nice dubbed out piano. On vocals Blackout JA is joined by Raphael for the ultimate juxtaposition of rough and smooth.

The last track of the EP may very likely be the first to reach the sound system ‘The Takeover’ they welcome in half a football team to represent: Da Fuchaman, YT, Rev Monks Man, Raphael and Solo Banton all take turns to toast over J-Man’s take of the Entertainment Riddim.

It might only be March, but 2013 is shaping up to be the year of the Junglist. It’s about time… Exactly 20 years since seminal scene-shaping anthems such as Studio 2’s ‘Who Jah Bless’ the fusion of reggae, ragga and firing breakbeats is still a huge influence on dancefloors. And Bristol beat boutique Run Tingz are leading the charge.

The third Run Tingz Digital dispatch of the year, ‘Rock a Dub’ is one of 12 big releases the label have locked and loaded for 2013… And the first one to herald two major artist deals! 

Dossa is a young producer from the sleepy Austrian town of St Poelten. A drummer since the age of six, and producer since the age of 16, Dossa was brought up on a strict diet of beats thanks to his older brother. With fingers in both Drum & Bass and Jungle pies, his ragga-ravaged output can now be found exclusively on Run Tingz. And it starts here with this beautiful sing-along skank-up with fellow countryman Deliman. 

‘Rock a Dub’ sparkles with instant uplift vibes. Opening with a rave-horn call to action, we’re soon swept off our feet with a series of blistering breakbeats and Deliman’s honey-soaked harmonies. One of Vienna’s most in-demand vocalists, Deliman’s mic-massaging bolsters Run Tingz on-going crusade for original vocal recordings. A contemporary Jungle lullaby, ‘Rock A Dub’ rolls with equal measures of embracive softness and bottom end badness – perfect for parties, festivals and end-of-night group hugs.

Never content with just one version, the camp have dished up two equally rocking rubs. The Run Tingz Cru step up first with their Bass Remix. Leaning heavily on the skank for a slightly deeper, dubbed out groove, the label heads pay full respect to the original while adding their own trademark dynamics. Fuelling the breakdown with an authentically classic and crackly reggae swing, the Bass Remix really lives up to its name when the drop comes into play. Turbo-charged low-end licks all the way, if this hasn’t got your crowd skanking you’re playing on the wrong bill.   

Finally we hit J-Man’s classically informed Jungle remix. Swapping the thick, textured breakbeats of Dossa’s original for snappier, stripped-back drum work, J-Man dives deep into the groove using Deliman’s full vocal and the juiciest bassline of the set. With ace Amen action and mesmerising levels of sub bass, it’s yet another remix triumph for the label… And the start of an exciting relationship between the dub plate munching Bristol badman and Run Tingz. Like Dossa, he’s just signed an exclusive two year deal with the label so expect big things… 

Three killer tracks and a couple of two-year record deals. It looks like 2014 will be the year of the Junglist too!
