Hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland - Selector Dale Jenkins aka Dablo (@dablojenks) has been bathed in the music since birth. His sound is heavily influenced by the deconstructed club music scene with its warped & decimated percussive elements, and has been honed in through the years of being a sweaty fanboy on many a dance floor across the UK & Europe. After not getting his weekly fix of live events last year he has been doing his own mixes. Since then he has done mixes for collectives, labels and radios including Data Transmission, (@datatransmission), Future Jazz Records(@FutureJazzRecords), Too Salty (@TooSalty) to name a few. 

This week blends some chilled summery grooves from the likes of Mihai Pol, Arapu & Etzu Mahkayah. I hope you enjoy the ride :)

Dale Jenkins aka Dablo hails from Edinburgh, Scotland, and has been immersed in music since childhood. His style is largely influenced by the deconstructed club music scene, with its distorted & shredded percussive components, and has been developed via years of sweaty fanboying on many a dance floor around the UK & Europe.

He's started producing his mixes since he didn't receive his weekly dose of live events last year. Since then, he has produced mixes for a variety of collectives, labels, and radio stations, including Data Transmission, Future Jazz Records, and Too Salty, to mention a few.

In this episode, Dablo combines some relaxed summertime rhythms from Traumer, LaMa, and Modebak. Hit play and enjoy the journey!

Dablo is the project of Edinburgh based DJ & Producer Dale Jenkins. Having been introduced to music at a young age, he found himself immersed in the House music subculture. Following seasons in Ibiza, Dale was able to broaden his musical taste, and develop a versatility for exploring new music and scenes within his own mixes. 

In recent times, he has taken influences from rising Minimal/Micro House stars like Traumer, Priku, and Apollonia. For this mix, Dale blends some chilled summery grooves from the likes of Jos Lok, Laughing Man & Caesar. We hope you enjoy the ride :)

For this peaceful fall morning, we turn to local Brooklyn based producer and DJ, Vicki Siolos for the auditory selections. After meeting at the Mostra festival in Barcelona, there was an immediate connection which only strengthened after listening through a few of her ‘Bright Pattern’ shows she hosts on the Lot Radio. Her mix for today showcases several pieces by Norm Chambers, as she writes – ‘including a new one released by his family on the anniversary of his passing. His music continues to inspire me to push myself deeper into my own imagination and stitch it into a sonic narrative. This session was retrospective at the time that I mixed it, a living room session from 2014 - of music we used to play on the Australian East Coast in the 2000s. 

Here's the story:

I was at home one afternoon 2014. I'd had my first baby, and while I'd been mixing some very fresh minimal using Traktor timecode vinyl, I had not mixed from my record bags for a few years. It felt really good to flip through our favourite records once again. This is a collection of just a few of our most special tracks from our early Motion:Theory:Music years - primarily at our 8 year Saturday night residency at Elsewhere on the Gold Coast from the early 2000s, a night which we started as the club opened - created by the incredible Simmy and Benny.  

The club won 'Best Music for a Club in Australia' at the Sydney Bar Music Awards during our time there when Ben was Musical Director. We were told our deep underground vibes could not work on the coast, but we remained true to the sound and never played 'down' to the audience, instead bringing an integrity to their flashing dancefloor, alongside the other residents Audun and Giv.   

I speak of Ben Abrahams, my musical partner, and father of our 2 boys.  He is one of Australia's early East Coast djs, & is much respected among djs & punters; he coined the phrase 'blurring the line between house & techno'.  Around 2000, he became resident of the infamous outdoor party Earthcore, bringing clubby sounds to the forest ravers, primarily used to trance music.  He had a Saturday night and Sunday night residency at Onesixone that went off' all in the days before social media.  

Most of these tracks we have danced to SOOO many times from 1998 through to 2009, so they effect my body memory intensely. Such memories of epic nights dancing for hours and hours and hours with all my friends; we had such authentic connections, so regularly, and then our intimate group moved onto our house to continue djing all of Sunday. I feel so lucky to have experienced that time. The bongos, the dubby basslines, the clubby vibes, the few super scratchy records, all make me get tingly and emotional.  I used to call the tracks I was drawn to play 'sideways house'.   

Ben played 5 hour vinyl sets every Saturday night for this extended period, and his mastery is well known.  Some of these are Ben's records, but became the basis for my set: stored in my record box. Ben is so clever at combining the best of the old with the new, & our appreciation of music is at the core of our connection, as it is with all our friends, old & new.

Originally from France and now currently based in Berlin, Just1 put together a one hour mix, switching between Dubby downtempo beats and some trip-Hop. As a  Visual artist, she is involved with Banana Box TV & 192 GmbH. Catch her playing alongside her collective "Alter le Future" with Micha and Tau Car.
