Jane Fitz, one of rural regulars and a staple of its history, took the stage for two B2B sets on both stages this year.

Jane's choice to share a booth with AKIRAM EN, also a regular at rural, on the first day of the event brought together a large crowd of music lovers for a rare B2B experience that lasted four hours of deep groove sessions from late into the night until dawn. Enjoy this obscure mix set, that the two skilled selectors who have been described as “DJ's  DJ” have produced.

On DAY 3 of rural 2024, a distorted fusion of strange weather and beautiful music, Interstellar Funk opened the main floor with a set that unfolded from a groovy sounds, which he is best known for. 

The three-hour set, with its minimal yet hypnotic sounds, tribal rhythms and deep dub sounds, and otherworldly electro, will showcase not only his talent as a skilled producer, but also his long career at the prestigious Dutch record store “Rush Hour” and his quest for timeless and essential sounds, You can enjoy his side as an explorer in pursuit of timeless essential sounds.

OCCA, who's leading the Japanese techno scene both in name and fact, is recognized as one of the special figures who continues to inspire the current scene not only as a DJ but also as an event organizer with a comprehensive perspective. 

The set he performed to close DAY 2 started with a techno sound that skillfully blended roaring bass, electronic repetitive sounds that made the audience soar, and organically intertwined drums. In the latter half of the set, when the sun emerged, the audience was treated to more ravey and, at times, even sensory numbing house music, a feat only OCCA could mix up with his solid experience of self-expression in a wide variety of venues. The three-hour set is a perfect opportunity to fully enjoy his extensive library of musics.

名実共に現行のテクノシーンを牽引するOCCAは、包括的な視点を持ったイベントオーガナイザーとしても現行のシーンに刺激を与え続ける特別な存在の1人。そんな彼がDAY2のクロージングセットを務めるべく披露したセットでは、轟くようなベースとオーディエンスが昇天するような電子反復音、そして有機的に絡み合うドラムが巧みにブレンドされたテクノサウンドを用いてバトンを引き継ぎました。太陽が出現した後半の時間では、よりレイヴィーに、そして時には、感覚を麻痺させるようなハウスミュージックまでが堪能できるでしょう。彼の豊富なライブラリーを存分に堪能できる3時間のセットをお楽しみください。

Atsushi Maeda, one of the founders and organizers of rural  festival, returned to the DJ booth this year after a 12-year absence.

The time he started his set rainfall was more intense, but despite the stormy weather, the audience danced enthusiastically until the end, creating an interactive techno piece that resembled a tug of war between the audience and the DJ. Enjoy a techno journey that deeply affects your body and spirit, as if you are running through a tunnel with no light in sight, surrounded by a sense of relief.

Neffa-T, who brings modern wave to the scene with his cutting-edge production and solid technique-based multi-channel DJ sets, raised the voltage of the dance floor on the first day with a set crossing genres very freely. From modern grime to driving techno sounds, tricky bass, and juke/footwork, the set was filled with a multi-layered groove, mixed in various ways.

Her shimmering set was transforming with the floor, organically harmonized with the space lit up in extreme colors with beautiful flowers, leading people into a deep hypnotic state. Yoshi Nori, who has been pursuing his own unique funkiness based on his diverse cultural background, tookover the stage at the time leading up to dusk at the Indoor stage, which has been open since the sun came up without stopping the sound. This is the pure rave house set ranged from deep house that gently enveloped the body to sometimes intense electro, with emotional development sprinkled.

There was impressive scenery on the second floor on the last day of the festival. The time for Sunju Hargun, who was to take the stage with two different sets, dancing and listening, to heal the bodies of the dancers who had been dancing so long in the rain. Deep dub echoes, Layered drones, and healing sounds echoed through the room, melting listeners' consciousness and guiding them into a deep meditative state.

フェスティバル最終日、セカンドフロアの朝の光景は印象的なものでした。ダンスとリスニング、二種のセットで登壇することになったSunju Hargunが、雨で踊り続けたダンサーたちの身体を癒した時間です。とろけるようなダブエコー、ドローン、ヒーリングサウンドが室内に響き渡り、リスナーの意識を融解させる深い瞑想をガイドしました。

As a resident DJ of "FULLHOUSE", SAMO has been attracting attention in the new scene in Japan. On the first day of rural, She colored the floor in her own way, with her characteristic roaring bass sound. This dance set is full of energy, showing influences from many different genres, at the same time evoking her favorite phrase “inexhaustible”.

We released an opening set for the pre-party of  “rural” performed by KAPI, which is based at “CLUB SHAFT,” one of the most famous music clubs in the Tohoku region, and has been holding events that happen a crossover of different genres. This low-flying set of down-tempo music that included some compound time signatures and experimental sounds, gently loses your sense of time.

東北地域随一の名箱〈CLUB SHAFT〉を拠点としながら、同地域で異なったジャンルのクロスオーバーを引き起こすイベントを続けてきたKAPIによるrural前夜祭のオープニングセット。随所に散りばめられたエクスペリメンタルサウンドと変拍子も含まれた味わい深いダウンテンポが優しく時間感覚を喪失させます。

Jane Fitz took the stage twice with a B2B set this at rural 2024, and she appeared on the final day with her musical partner Jade Seatle, who co-hosts the DIY party “Night Moves” in their home, London. This year, the spanish techno legend Oscar Mulero will return to the stage at rural, and we are happy to share the recording of his closing set at “rural at New Acao” in 2022.
