Originally recorded in 2011, 3D sent the stems to me ten years later as he felt the song was never done justice - and as it turns out, this is a more appropriate time to release it for many reasons.

Around this time I was working on some music by artist/multi instrumentalist Paul Dews (How Far To Hitchin) whom offered to paint this wonderful cover art based on the lyrics. As is usual 3D has posted the track to Bandcamp and I've posted here, it would be great if you followed the link and checked out some more of his music and maybe buy some!

I was speaking to Chris about his art and he mentioned doing some art for a track and did the draft drawing based on the lyrics by John Eagle which I loved. I then asked him if he fancied doing the drums as the midi ones I’d done on the draft track were very static. John and I were talking on here while I was up in Norfolk about the Fen Men, lost treasure and the shaping of the country both where he is in USA and where I am in Cambridgeshire. A couple of months on and he presented me with these lyrics which were loosely based on the events in our conversation...good eh :-) I laid down bass, a rough beat and some loose chords and Pete did the business with the drums, we went a bit towards the funky side of rock I guess, suited the vibe, again he added to the track his own distinctiveness which then got guitars in various guises and a little bit of mixing..well OK quite a lot LOL

Stoney and 3D wrote this song, I really liked the original and reading the comments someone had mentioned it would be interesting how it sounded with more rhythm guitar, got me thinking, yeah remix.. the guys said yes, obviously. I just got a Telecaster, 1st ever so I thought I'd try it on a partial rehearsed solo :-)and did some extra rhythm guitar too.

"Cimmerian was one of the last songs we did for the album. I think we were all kind of dealing with some intense gloom at the time. I asked D3 if he was interested in doing a bossa nova tune. He put together the drums and percussion and piano and I played some guitar and sang, but then we had to call in the big guns to give it some flavor! Alex Sinfield is on the saxophone. He's great, love his stuff, he's got the right touch, all the time. Cheers to Alex! And of course then we thought a little father son duo on a song would be great so we begged Russ Sinfield to pick up his new guitar, fix the noise problem in the wiring and then rip us a beautiful guitar solo. The Sinfields rock. All in all, it came together pretty quickly and easily. One of my faves on the album. It's definitely dark and gloomy. Cheers!!"

"Pseudonyms was probably the 4th or 5th song we recorded for the album. D3 began it and sent me the drums and piano to work with. Technically something went wrong, as the software I was using didn't realize it was 48 Khz instead of 44. HA. The result was me leaving the piano part on repeat and never being able to completely be in tune with it. It was only after consulting with our Genius producer, Russ Sinfield, that we solved the problem and I could actually play in tune with D3. This was the first and last time this problem occurred. We had fun on this one and even had Captain Sinfield bring his master fingers to lay down a solo for us. Hope you enjoy as much as we did making it. Cheers!!"

Oft times I can look at lyrics and get a tune or feeling/direction, these lyrics from John Eagle https://soundcloud.com/johnny_eagle I sat on for almost a year, the chorus giving most difficulty, my son gave me much encouragement such as "bluwww that's terrible dad" and my favourite, "you're actually going to post that!" :-) Anyway I got Jon https://soundcloud.com/jon-lock-5 onboard once I sketched out the song and he came back to me with bass and some lovely keyboards and some other sounds which I ditched in the end and added more guitar. I got Pete https://soundcloud.com/midipunk in and he seemed to like it a lot so we had a full band experience, though it was just me arguing with myself for the next month LOL anyway here it is. Pete has since dubbed me Sir Russ Master Turdpolisher, here at the Chaos Cookhouse we are happy with that :-)

I had this idea for a whimsical love song about how a couple grow old and see each others faults and still find them endearing, farts and all. The original guitar melody sings "I love you my baby, I know you love me most of the time, our love ages like fine wine" with this thin concept I asked Janine and Marquis to embark on a vocal duet. Marquis did this amazing and rather sexual rap which I liked but couldn't adapt to my inner vision to the song, I hope to do something with this later :-) He also did the backing vocals you hear on the track. I asked Daniel to do the bass which fitted perfectly with Pete's drums and additional percussion goodies, I've no idea how long he worked on these... a lot, Janine did this completely unexpected vocal, which I think really does fit well with the idea, although it weirded me out at first, (talk of marriage does that to me) and 3D came back with a church organ intro and the melodica plus some reggae bubbles on clav and organ, it was really shaping up to a pretty tune. I left the guitar singing the male melody and asked Jorg to join in, in place of the male part as well - different I hope. Making the sax sound slightly drunk in the mid section was fun.

Anyway huge thanks to all of above who worked on this tune with me and helped me make something I'm proud of, I could not do it without you guys!

I think this track started 2 years ago. I remember talking about the vision with Jamie on the phone and then Jamie sent me a bunch of stems to choose from. I chose the standing bass and recorded my verse with a 90’s vibe in mind. I sent the track over to Russell to add some guitars, he sent that funk rock intro and riff back, and then I don’t know what happened after that? A bunch of other songs got made and the vision for this track expanded to include cutting my second verse and bringing Jon Lock in on vocals. Then the song sat again. Jon and I even started and completed And So You Say and Training Day after we had already got this song started. Since this track was visioned to be part of the first song on the set with Training Day, eventually it had to be completed. Wou-Wou then join in with his synths, rhythm guitar over Jon’s part, and some additional guitar over the first section. This gave the track the final fire it needed and Russell mixed and mastered it like a champ!

As always, massive thanks to Wou-Wou and Russell who have been regular collaborators on so many projects, on SoundCloud, Facebook, and Bandcamp. Wou and Russell will always be the core of my musical team. Thanks for being great friends! 
Big thanks also to Jon, who I have worked with on 3 songs now, with 2 more in the works already!

Darren Douglas Danahy wrote a complete demo version of this song in Ableton Live and as is our usual workflow he sent me the whole project and we went from there.

Drums from Stoney were added to replace most of the Digitakt ones, new bass was added by me and another lot of Bass 6 by 3D as well as vocals from Kathy Freeman and Stone.

All in all a fun project and a great track to launch the new BC page, thank you 3D for graciously letting me have your hard earned creativity adorn this and for Kathy and Stone joining in the fun.

From HinT - "This song had a very long gestation period. For a while we weren't sure that it would ever see the light of day. It first appeared as a live video on our Facebook page, which still remains in our video section as a demo. After a lot of procrastinating, we sent some stems to Russ, who in turn sent those pieces to D. D. Danahy. And that's when everything turned around. D. D. Danahy added synth and bass. But most importantly, he breathed new life into the song, made it a cohesive thing, and gave it a brand new heading that inspired us all, and helped us see it through to its fruition. Reinvigorated by D3's contributions, we decided to add lyrics and vocals. Russ approached bitzone on our behalf to add drums, which was an altogether excellent choice. Russ then worked tirelessly and meticulously to mix and blend every piece together into the final product. And now, finally, we're here. With our deepest thanks and gratitude to everyone involved."
