Pues hace mas de un año de que no hacia un cover y bueno ayer por la noche me dieron ganas de hacer uno, así que no pidan mucho, solo estaba de ocioso.

Hollywood's eclectic power trio goes back to its Mexican roots and brings us unique versions of the great Rock en Español classics.

Just when we thought that the mighty metallers Rusty Eye could not do anything else anymore to surprise us, they return with their fourth album "Saca el Cobre" singing in Spanish for the first time in their career, bringing us their unique and disturbing take on the songs that paved Rock en Español's way in Mexico in the years 1989 to 1992.

From Cuca's "Cara de Pizza" to Amantes de Lola's "Mamá", to quintessential bands in the genre like Fobia, Caifanes, Café Tacuba and Maldita Vecindad, all of them transformed to Rusty Eye's bizarre style that includes a bit of Thrash, Punk, Death, Black, Stoner and Prog. Masterfully alternating the vocal work of Miss Randall, on her last album with Rusty eye since she's pursuing a solo career (she has never sounded so sensual like she does on "Perdí Mi Ojo De Venado"), with Mr. Rust's usual howls and guttural vocals, that bring back to life underground classics such as Transmetal's "El Infierno de Dante". Always accompanied by the proficient guitarist Baron Murtland. Certainly we will never listen to Mexican rock the same way we did. As the icing on the cake we also get the remake of "Sr. Cannibal", the Spanish version of "Mr. Cannibal", a staple from this talented band.

This one came from watching "Destination Unknown" and getting completely fascinated by the idea of finding Anne Bonny's treasure. The show got me digging deep into her story, and the more I learned, the more I realized her real treasure wasn't gold - it was her absolute refusal to be controlled by anyone.

Here's this Irish woman who had everything handed to her - plantation wealth, arranged marriage, comfortable life - and she threw it all away to become a Caribbean pirate. That takes serious guts. But what really hooked me was learning about her partnership with Mary Read and how they were often the only ones willing to fight when Calico Jack's crew got cornered.

The song builds through her whole journey, but that courthouse moment is what sealed it for me. When they're about to hang her and instead of begging, she looks at those men and says "If you fought like a man, you wouldn't hang like a dog!" That's pure defiance in the face of death.

When AI helped me create the track, that breakdown where the music cuts to silence before her voice delivers that line came out perfect. It captures what I was feeling watching that show - this woman's treasure wasn't buried somewhere, it was her unbreakable spirit.

Sometimes the best songs come from getting lost in a TV show and finding something way deeper than you expected.

A product of Mexico City, Mexico, RUSTY EYE are the epitome of hard work in the music business. With a "make it or break it" attitude, the three piece could have gone anywhere when they left Mexico, but they went straight for the throat of the Heavy Metal scene in America and claimed Hollywood, California as base of operations. Nobody puts RUSTY EYE in a corner, meaning that you can't slap a label on this band and lump them in with anybody else. The current lineup, consisting of Mr. Rust (bass/vocals), Miss Randall (drums/vocals) and Baron Murtland (guitars) broke the mold with the release of Stendhal Syndrome (2007), and followed strong with the impossible to wear out Possessor (2009), all on their own imprint Epoché Records. Constant work has earned them the respect of metal fans the world over, and also the love of critics in both the music and horror world, as they have done things the old school way, bypassing all of the bullshit and devoting themselves to standing out by writing and playing the gnarliest music possible. Now a certified legend in the Hollywood scene, RUSTY EYE have taken to the legendary Rainbow to record and unleash upon a new live album upon us. Live at The Rainbow MMX is 70-odd minutes of succulent metal, tinged with punk rock, including all the platters that matter from the fifteen-plus career of these DIY heroes. If this band isn't already one of your favorites, they damn well need to be.
