A piece written to mock the more off putting and disrespectful members of society who fail to appreciate opportunity.

Themes include hypocrisy, mild fear, repitition and insignificance; particularly in the use of speech.

Another Ignorant Rant

A piece written to highlight frequently occurring issues such as selfishness, greed, anger and mistreatment. My character is exerting his anger on a person who mistreats their family.

Much To Be Desired

A poem/monologue written in the first-person, in which my character analyses the state of self-induced isolation; the pondering of ideas and the comfort that comes with it. This has been written while tying in the idea of over-commercialisation and defamation of tradition, through arguably ironic reference to the classic story "A Christmas Carol".

My Bench

One of my favourite works so far; this character has experienced genuine chemistry for the first time, and they begin to realise that they are indeed worth something after almost always feeling convinced that they are insignificant. They feel wanted and appreciated which takes them aback, and as a result of such excitement, becoming exceedingly overwhelmed and 'caught-in-the-moment'; this is their reflection on it after the fact.

SYNCHRONISE AND IDOLISE

An alcohol-fuelled 'off-the-cuff' set of lyrics that were written in the company of a close friend, inspired in part by Edinburgh bar "HOOT THE REDEEMER" and the flow of the discussion (the banter levels were far too high!), hence the title and content. This was written to make a point of experimenting with creative ability while making notes of how my mind was processing information while writing and listening; the words have remained near enough unchanged other than little tweaks here and there. Just hear it and you'll understand what I mean!

The Redeemer (EXPLICIT)

Part 3 of my "CONFESSIONS IN THE DARK"  series, which examines and analyses the darker sides of a person's mental state.

In this scenario, my character has offered to redeem themselves for their wrongdoing. There is a warped style of repentance offered; they seek help from a source but attack that same source, which is indicative of their depression. There is also reference to the previous two scenarios, in that all of the tragedies somehow interlink.

CONFESSIONS 03: "I Mean No Suffering"

Part 2 of my "CONFESSIONS IN THE DARK"  series, which examines and analyses the darker sides of a person's mental state.

This character is mentally unstable; they struggle to articulate properly, but this is also partly due to a learning difficulty that prevents them from fully processing and understanding why a significant tragedy has occurred. All they know is that a significant person's death has traumatised them and caused them to show symptoms of Panic Disorder later on; so much so that they are contemplating following in that person's actions...

CONFESSIONS 02: "Her Face" (EXPLICIT)

Part 1 of my "CONFESSIONS IN THE DARK"  series, which examines and analyses the darker sides of a person's mental state.

My character in this scenario feels like they have been let down by everyone they know, which sets the ball rolling, causing further calamity. It is to such a crushing degree that they lose all faith as well as their sanity...all because of one tiny mistake that wasn't even theirs to feel punished for.
