Still riding the wave of accolades from their previous album ‘Liquid Exorcist’ -- which spawned several charting singles for rock radio -- Rusty Shipp has just released their first new music since then: ‘Bottom of the Barrel.’  The lead single is taken from their upcoming full-length, concept album ‘Dark Side of the Ocean,’ which follows an imaginative journey to the darkest parts of the ocean where mankind has never explored, to find a surprise waiting there… at the Bottom of the Barrel.

‘Bottom of the Barrel’ continues the nautical rock theme of the band with lyrics that follow the sinking singer down to the bottom of the ocean where his body and spirit separate. In the black of the abyss he is surprised to be met with light from the ocean floor inhabitants’ bioluminescence—a reminder that light and company exist even in the darkest parts of the world. The music revolves around progressive grunge riffs in the style of Muse and Royal Blood, intertwined with catchy Beatlesque melodies that the band has gained notoriety for. The single will be followed by a music video.

02 Living Waters

Espionage is the newest single from award winning alt rockers, Rusty Shipp. The song continues the story in the "Cosmic Innuendo" series. On the surface, the song seems to be about sea angels who come to that surface to spy on salty sailors. But under the waves, there's a deeper meaning—a man and a band who are bringing a secret message which may not be what either side is expecting!

03 Espionage

Rusty Shipp has just released their third full length studio album and the second in the Cosmic Innuendo concept story line: Capsized Empire. The previous album contained the story of a sailor who drowned at sea but found light at the "Bottom of the Barrel" in a kingdom of sea angels. That album left off with the sea angels heading to the surface of the ocean. Capsized Empire picks up here where these angels discover an Upside Down Kingdom on The Other Side.

Despite appearances, Rusty Shipp is not merely a fantasy rock band. Instead, the nautical themes are a facade for the lyrical exploration of the philosophical problem of evil in the world. The story and lyrics are all written out in the album's CD liner!

The world's premier (and perhaps only?) nautical rock band brings their signature alt rock in the songs All Aboard, Espionage, Neck Breaker, Nefarious, Scallywags, and Sinners in the Hands. But they also display their typical diversity with the surf track Aquamoto, the sea shanty Spanish Ladies, a cover of Paul McCartney's 1882, and the surfy/jazzy On the Docks.

Overall, Capsized Empire sees the band running full speed ahead, having fully developed their unique voice.
