Newly starting his own brand @sonicfluxuk he intends to really drive home with a full force frontline attack on the city of Leeds & North Yorkshire as a whole, spreading out across the nation in the future.

The Ruthless Raver - #003 Ben Turner

Mark Walker (UK) is a DJ/Producer from Scarborough in the North-East of England, he is an underground artist that has an ever-growing presence in the dance scene.

Since 2021, He was found to be focusing on his recently disbanded duo tech house alias, It had him travelling up and down the UK, playing various club events which saw him support artists such as Pirate Copy, DEL30, Elliot Adamson and Josh Hvaal.

His roots, have always been for driving, fast paced hard techno, which currently has his full focus. His style can be seen with driving basslines, distorted kicks and 90s rave elements/acid, finding inspiration from the likes of: 999999999, I Hate Models, Dax J, DJ Rush, Amelie Lens and Charlie Sparks.

His earlier releases came on SMR Underground, Advise Records and Botancia Records, Which was somewhat more, Minimal/Peak techno, with another that was released on Sound Klecske Records. Since these releases, his style has changed dramatically. Influenced massively by the techno brand Possession, which is seen in his sound change with a hypnotic industrial vibe, which is seen in his latest edits of Lady Gaga – Poker Face and the more recent Nelly Furtado – Promiscuous. The Promosicious Remix has had him getting the credentials from some of hard techno’s biggest acts, CLTX, CHRS and Sopik, having his tracks played all over the globe at events such as, Amsterdam Dance Event or Phase 2.

In 2023, One of Marks unreleased tracks gained support from artists such as Shlomo, Paula Temple and Luca Agnelli, and is due to be released on CLTX’s TX Records in April 2023.

Expect to see his face much more on the scene within the coming years.

The Ruthless Raver - #004 Mark Walker

Dublin label @tenonerecords unite co-founders Air Jackson and ACI TONA for a collaborative EP entitled ‘When We Were Younger’. The label offers a platform for the deeper, melodic sounds of house, techno and breakbeat, which this release touches on nicely.

Both Air Jackson and ACI TONA have been honing their craft over the years, building up a style and sound that only experience can lend itself to. This first release from the duo is a flawless amalgamation of their melodic yet tough styles, laced with nostalgia and good vibes born from their 25 years of immersion in the club and rave scene.

Today we premiere ‘Acid Love’ an uplifting and nostalgic acid infused house track that pays homage to the days of acid house and rave, with tastefully chopped vocal samples and euphoric ravey build ups with a modern day twist. This will no doubt act as a musical mood enhancer on any dance floor and be right at home at festivals this year.


‘When We Were Younger’ is out this Friday 7th.

Four Four Premiere: Air Jackson X ACI TONA - Acid Love - [Ten One Records]

T¥PE1 is a new up and coming Hard Techno DJ from Ellesmere Port, UK, who is bursting onto the scene with his mixes that are fuelled by dark synths and powerful acid basslines.

Since getting his first set of decks in December 2020 he has fallen in love with mixing techno for himself and other people to enjoy.

Inspired by the likes of Basswell, 999999999 and RBX he is looking to start to play at events and make a name for himself in the near future.

The Ruthless Raver - #006 T¥PE1

This week’s entry to the Local Selection welcomes Ventolin to the series. The Irish DJ and producer is now based in Haarlem in the Netherlands, where he has provided us with a sensational recording that encapsulates his compelling mixing style. This recording, in particular, includes several unreleased Ventolin cuts throughout too, for good measure.

Ventolin acts as our latest entry to the Local Selection Mix Series, acting as the latest entry he has gifted us with a fantastic recording that is carefully crafted, showcasing a range of techno selections that draw from his own signature taste. This inspiration is partially drawn from his father too, as the recording focuses on grooving techno elements alongside broken jungle elements which makes for a fresher, more unique listen overall.

This shift in taste comes from spending some time travelling across Europe which lead Ventolin to uncover various styles and sounds rooted in dance music. Not to mention a number of appearances on Ghent’s Radio Ruit and Brussels’ Kiosk Radio in the process. All while releasing a range of material from as far back as 2020. Ventolin has released a wealth of self-released tracks during this time as well as numerous other musical projects with Planetaria Barcelona, Seven Twelve, Reboot Records, SPEED, Filth Inc and more.

This mix does a brilliant job at encapsulating Ventolin’s current taste musically, as he includes a range of tracks from artists and labels he’s digging at the moment as well as some older cuts a bit closer to him that he feels like he can drop at any given time. Expect to hear tracks from Lars Huismann, Decadence, Almir Ljusa, and Chontane as well as some unreleased from Ventolin himself. Dig in.

Local Selection 202: Ventolin

Niamh is a writer, DJ and presenter. She’s Mixmag’s Weekend Editor and hosts and produces her own podcast Belta, showcasing folk in electronic music from the north. She’s longtime had an ear for music, with a backbone of classical and theoretical music training which began at the age of four, and now meticulously translates this knowledge to all aspects of her creative work. Curation is important to Niamh, keen to represent her northern background by playing high-energy, techno-infused soundscapes from the outset and throughout.
