“When i first heard "Need You Now" i instantly felt a strong connection with the track, it's one of those tracks that just grabs your attention and puts you in a distinctive and nostalgic mood,” says Sebastiaan Vandevoorde, better known as Moonlight Matters and one half of house duo Arches.

The original, the second release from Hot Chip’s most recent album Why Make Sense? is a brooding house tune with soulful vocals dripping in and out amidst a sparse, but engrossing musical atmosphere. 

“Alex's magical vocals tones never cease to amaze and that Sinnamon vocal sample is just the icing on the cake of what seems to be the perfect blend. “I already had a clear picture in mind of what I'd do to the track when the Hot Chip boys gave me the opportunity to remix this piece of gold,” says Sebastiaan. “I was a kid in a candy store. I wanted to keep the original mood of the track in tact yet make a very personal reinterpretation upping the energy and the diva factor.”

The Kachiri Remix EP features a varied selection from some of the finest. Kicking off with Tronik Youth who takes the title track and reboots into a harder darker groove, pushing the synths to breaking point. Man Power ignites a fire on the dancefloor with real bass and spacey chords. Ivan Smagghe creates an off kilter eclectic groove with a different energy. Jamie Patton dubs out Pink Ghost with a twisted and warped groove that takes it to a new cosmos. Whilst, Kasper Bjorke takes us down to the sea with his love vibes and tropical rework of Volupia. Craig Bratley adds his dark synths and toughened grooves for late night dance floors. Two Mamarrachos lead us on an epic 11 minute journey with their massive Pink Ghost funk groove.

False Alarm (Ghost Culture Remix)

We can boil this Debut down to a single sentence, really: Demac's done good again. Slivers of sax winch back 'n forth over a fat, buzzy bassline rising steeply in intensity; it does damage. The fact "Axel Foley" sits on a forthcoming Cocoon compilation, and so is going be reverberating around a lot of eardrums this summer, is a big bonus. If you don't feel a tingle of glee picturing Papa Sven hoofing this out, then frankly you just might have something wrong with you.

Last Magpie, AKA Craig McNamara (and one half of bass heavy beat freaks, Mak & Pasteman) returns to Hypercolour with a four track EP that explores a deeper, IDM sound to his ever-expanding repertoire.

‘Separation’ fizzes with analog white noise and distorted drums whilst a trance-inducing riff acts as the wormhole to a bygone era of driving Berlin techno sounds, the melancholic strings further enhancing this classic sound design.  

‘Silver’ packs a melodic punch; deft keys and chords that are oceans deep create a track full of emotion and harmony as the unyielding beats keeps this dusty deep houser firmly in the groove.

Flexing some techno chops, ‘Encounters’ marries celestial vibes and spatial melodies to a thumping and bass driven beat.  Think midday on Tresor’s hallowed dancefloor after a long nights session and you’re nearly there, stirring stuff from Last Magpie.

Closing this stellar release is ‘UTLD3’, another meaty technoid jam but with a restrained tempo.  Bass slapping over metallic drums, industrial sized mallet percs and discordant horn blasts, there’s plenty of interesting dimensions at play here to hold the listener’s ear, and a cut that rounds off an exemplary release from one of Hypercolour’s favourites.

@kane-west-official , the clubbiest thing to come out of the mega-trending PC Music crew, crosses over with this 4-tracker on the ever-unpredictable Turbo Recordings.

The solo project of Anglo-Japanese indie-pop act Kero Kero Bonito's Gus Lobban, Kane West was first discovered via a winning entry in a Tiga remix contest, where his raw MIDI-riffic sound caught Turbo A&R's attention. His palette is carefully constrained, with only a few vocal samples punctuating clever, hooky arrangements created on General MIDI sound modules.

Lead track "Mexicans" jumps out with a huge, groovy bassline, ridiculously catchy horn riff, funky percussion and vocal expletives like "OH YEAH" and "THIS DJ IS HAPPENIN". Over the top? Maybe. Fun? Definitely.

It’s an exciting sophomore effort from the young, London-based producer, whose references run the gamut from Maurice Fulton, Ceephax, Mr Oizo, Comeme, to classic Chicago house. Guaranteed fresh!
