Take A Look Inside

RY-GUY releases his much anticipated debut EP, "As The Light Leaks” on 27th July. This independent release contains five tracks written and composed by the up-and-coming Brixton-based Modern-Psychedelia artist. 

RY-GUY's debut EP, "As The Light Leaks" radiates virtually apparent golden threads that flow throughout. Binding essences of Blur, Pink Floyd, and Sly and The Family Stone's afro-futurism to a wholly contemporary sound influenced by a wide range of genres. The unique style of Psychedelia is refined yet approached in a raw fashion, melodious whilst directly engaging. There are unwavering rhythm sections accompanied by intertwining guitars and synthesisers that build textures to wash us into the tide and deliver us back ashore with a fresh perspective.

This EP was conceptualised on "the navigation of ourselves in relation to our natural surroundings," according to RY-GUY. As well as the music, this concept was brought to life throughout the EP artwork collaborations produced by Kieran Rid & Lydia Dique.

'LIVE AT SUPERSONIC' PARIS

"The Reign of the Garden Queen" offers a moving tribute to RY- GUY's mother and the impact of her guidance throughout his life. In this song inspired by Zamrock bands like WITCH & Ofege, the artist portrays his mother as a revered empress remembered as The Garden Queen. RY-GUY recounts her triumphant reign through storytelling verses juxtaposed against choral, spiritually awakening components.

Skyscraper is a song casted from RY-GUY's perspective as a city born individual harnessing and embracing what the constantly evolving modern world has to offer. On the other hand, it witnesses how the pressures and expansion of our current society relentlessly gnaw's away at precious space - internally and externally. It champions the abstraction inside the mind, the ability to re-invent your own reality whilst it also reflects on outworn structures presenting their facades as innovative or necessary.
