Resident wayfarers Sparrow & Barbossa return to MoBlack Records, along with one of the label's reigning songstresses, Nomvula and Goya-nominated griot Cherif Badua on strings. Proponents of immersive sonic voyages, the musical storytellers propel even deeper with Nomvula’s lyrical prowess and the Kora maestro's permeating strums at the crux. A gift that keeps on giving, 'Amore Profondo' is complemented with three distinctive reinterpretations by a cast of talented remixers. Starting off, Mpumalanga’s Caiiro revels in the ubiquity of 'Amore Profondo' at first beat, drifting its lush vocals into mesmeric rhythms and rapturous melodies. Mozambican artists Breeze and the Sun and Neil Amarey join in to deliver a compelling rendition that marries riveting instrumentals, spirited Afro grooves and transcendent plangencies. Milan's Ivory helms the dark side of 'Amore Profondo,' undulating robust basslines through sharp syncopations, incisive timbre and esoteric nuances - voltaic but 'amore' nonetheless. Rounding out the EP, the original mix gleams with luminous harmonic stratas. A mélange of sensual Latin instruments, vigorous drum patterns and tender melodies, 'Amore Profondo' is a lasting dancefloor ballad that echoes eternal solace through faith, requited devotion through grace, and redemption through soul-driven motion. Taking the release-portfolio into account, Rampa built over the last years on Keinemusik, him adding a new EP to the labels catalogue is worth every credit of trust. And this very “Trust” EP is living up to that not only by its name. It certainly offers value for money, considering KM-releases have mostly been two-trackers. There are four cuts on this one, each one following a different approach, making it also a hella versatile record.

It opens with the titeltrack, the floor-mantra within this bunch. A ruminant groove, backed by lifting and dropping notes, launching a catchy synth-figure and adding up synth-layers until all tension drops into a break that’s as curative as a talk therapy. A track that, out of unshakable serenity, unleashes an irresistible energy.

The following “Entropie” comes closest to what could be considered a Rampa classic. Percussive loops that are scooped up with even more banging and clanking – check. Lurking synthbass in the back – check. Vocalsamples with tribal descent – double check. Generally, you’ll find a whole lot of folklore in this rhythm rich affair, that continuously is jazzing up to highest ecstasy levels.

The flipside opens with “Defiled”, led by a prominent synthline, that’s going through various filter highs and lows and gets bludgeoned by some vigorously swung claps. Raw, naked floor material lacking any flourish, that seems to even fire up a jackhammer during the break.

“Headsup” is concluding this set. Triggering the smell of watered sidewalks, lit-up only by flickering neon light, immersed in the depths of delay, this latenight-story finds some redemption and warmth within the glow of its soulful vocal samples.

“You Are Safe”, Keinemusik’s first ever collabo album, has been out for a fair amount of time now. The material made it through quite a number of club-located performance tests over the last weeks. And well, it clicked pleasantly with crowds and DJs alike.

Even pleasantly enough that a handful of much-valued folks handed in some gorgeous remixes of the source material. Over the next few weeks we’ll be getting those out in pairings of two. The first couple being DJ Tennis and Frankey & Sandrino.

Life and Death honcho DJ Tennis is kicking things off with his variation of “You Are Safe”, the original intro of the eponymous album. He’s pushing the once plain atmospheric track into a grid of stoic beats that’s shrouded by plumes of reverb. You’ll find some adjusted percussive elements from the original on here, attended by a massive synthbass- hook and looming melodies that’ll make this piece an unmistakeable killer on the dancefloor.

Frankey & Sandrino’s take on the already unobtrusive “Guilt Trip” is leading into even more self-forgetful realms, letting their ruminant groove waft on thick clouds of white noise. Keeping the iconic vocals of the original, they would add synth pads to have the resulting call and response interaction arrange an irresistible height of pleasure.
