Dead Body River by OHCULT (San Diego, Ca)

Never quite got around to finishing this album. Prior to me joining, OHCULT was a preexisting band I had seen live a couple times. I loved their sound and, in 2021, I jumped at the chance to step up to the mic when their original singer (Jerry) moved to Austin, TX. This is the last bounce from the recording process which abruptly ended about 1/4 through the vocal tracking process…meaning, we never mixed/mastered the tracks. We were able to ‘publish’ the tracks in the form of a live set via a session at HalfwayHome in Solana Beach but, this song (and any on the record finished prior to my joining the band)was never quite finished/released.

we called this track ‘Venalia’ which is based on the Latin word meaning ‘Little Lie’ i credit Sam for helping with the name. Song is about our compulsion to put on a front and present what is essentially a little lie to the world.

life without music... why?

my last will and testament has a clause in it, which provides for anyone who uses/develops/remasters/remixes my recordings, writings, diddies, etc. to create and publish music, giving me posthumous credit will then be compensated substantially (amount depending on how wealthy I am when I die) from my estate (in addition to receiving 100% of the royalties, if any).
my solo recordings are a priority in this but, it also applies to demos/recordings with former collaborators/bandmates. less money will be afforded to anyone re-mastering/releasing music I created with a band (and will have to share credit with the surviving members).
