Four days ago, we capped off a season of parties that, at one point, we weren’t sure would ever happen. Mister Sunday was our first return to the dance floor after lockdown, and it remained, week in and week out, a source of joy and rejuvenation in the last six months’ roller coaster of reopening.

This mix was recorded at the finale of Mister Sunday’s outdoor season, with Nowadays founding resident DJs and Mister Sunday dons Eamon Harkin and Justin Carter tearing through rough-and-ready industrial, propulsive New York soulful house, bubbling big room techno, boisterous rave tracks, acid melters, Italo jams, jazz dance and all kinds of other cathartic sounds.

For a band whose identity in pop culture is often subject to oversimplified definitions and reductive jokes, The Grateful Dead's music frequently evades concise pigeonholing. Formed in California during the high watermark of post-war US counterculture, the Dead weave a psychedelic tapestry of folk, jazz, bluegrass, country, gospel, reggae, rock and blues, where the beginnings and ends of each influence disappear. 

Their trademark marathon live performances, loose improvisational style and famously loyal fans make The Grateful Dead arguably a one of a kind phenomenon in popular music.

Most prolific during their time signed to Milestone, where they released 10 LP’s between 1979 and 1988.

Osmar Milito e Quarteto Forma - America Latina

‘America Latina’ is taken from the soundtrack to the Rede Globo soap opera "Selva De Pedra”, released on Som Livre in 1972. A cheerful, upbeat MPB song with a killer chorus drop.

Milito began his career in 1964 artists as Nara Leão, Maria Bethania, Vinicius de Morais, Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben and Elis Regina amongst others. He worked in the USA with Chico Buarque and Sergio Mendes for several years in the 70’s, also appearing alongside artists including Liza Minelli, Mark Murphy, Spanky Wilson and Sammy Davis Jr.

As sampled on Madvillain ft. M.E.D 'Raid', and featured in the Floating Points  and Fourtet Plastic People mix!

Though the understanding of the present is bleak, the visions of the future are divinely delivered victory and a complete reformation. Community Praise and Worship Night is seeped in the biblical tradition of good versus evil, but open to the cleansing power of the chaos within. Girl Talk

This track was recorded in the Duderstadt Audio Studio at the University of Michigan. The quartet was made up of Jeff Siegfried on tenor sax, Brendan Davis on Keys, Eliza Salem on Drums, and Mohan Ritsema on bass.

I used a pair of 414 XLS II on piano along with a pair of fatheads, an RE 20 and a KSM 44 on bass, A TLM 192 on sax in addition to a DPA 4022 . On drums, I used a pair of FET 62 miks as overheads, a 57 on snare, and an RE 20 on bass. I miked the hat and ride cymbals with SM 81s, but didn't end up using much of them in the mix

I Just Wanna Praise You

This epic set is taken from one of those 'all-nigh-long' affairs where I got to play from start to finish; this one happened on Monday November 29, 2010. Whenever I got a chance to do this, Cielo's sound system was really helpful and always inspired me to play a certain way because of the amazing sonics.
