It's the Behemoth! Germanium Fuzz Face based design, input blend cap, no fuzz control, treble bleed volume control. Russian NOS military surplus transistors, P416B. Measured with leakage accounted for, using a matched pair. 

2 riffs, 5 settings: Clean, Bass Max w/Level Mid, Bass & Level Mid, Bass Mid w/Level Max, Bass & Level Mid w/Guitar Vol Mid.  Same amp and guitar settings (besides volume) throughout.

See, the pedal cleans up when you back off the volume.  There's a cleaner setting that just has a tiny octaving effect on it, but I thought it'd be neat to show what it sounds like when it's just barely breaking up.  It's a weird effect that really only sounds like THAT with germanium transistors.

Any ringing, harmonics, and octaves are due to the pedal alone.  Recorded on DI into a basic amp sim that provides no capability for the above.  No room sim, no reverb added.  It sounds even better in person.

The Behemoth, Strat using Bridge and Middle

Two riffs, one single note, the other chords and one little thing in the middle.  Each riff is played clean first, then with different settings.  

The first riff I played with varying bass settings as well as different pedal settings to show off the wide, wide range of tones.

The little thing in the middle is just a sample of a tonal setting I'd actually use.

The second riff I only changed the volume on the bass to get those two completely different sounds.  Kept the pedal set the same for the second riff.

Gritty Kitty Cell Phone Recording

Demo of a modified Daphon E10FL, whose schematic matches the Boss BF-2 everywhere that it matters. Starts off super subtle, then shows off some of the crazy synthy sounds, does some robot noises, gets ring moddish. Super cool.

Daphon Demo

Same effect as before, on bass, clean, DI. No amp or cab sim. Listen to it on headphones or it'll sound weak. Your laptop speakers won't do it justice.

Daphon Demo Bass

No input.  Rate maxed out, Res at 85%, sweeping Depth from 0 to 100 and back to 0.  First is stock, soft limiter.  Second is with the limiter hard clipping.  Third is no limiter, with the op amp overdriving.  

This is the flanger feeding back into itself, no signal running through it.  Self oscillating.  It'll do this constantly if you crank the Res all the way up, at lower settings it'll only do it when the Depth is high enough.  Rate completely changes the sound it makes, it's maxed out here so that it's fast enough to become a single tone so far as your ears are concerned.  You can slow it down to make it sound like a police siren.

The same tonal differences are there when using the flanger as a guitar effect without it self oscillating, but they're much less obvious.  For the sake of brevity I didn't bother showcasing all the different rate settings.  Check out the other demos I posted of this pedal for an idea of what those sound like.

All of this is possible on a Boss BF-2 as well, as they use the same circuit (same components, even).

Daphon Self Oscillating - Limiter Modes

This is a song I wrote a year ago.  The drummer shares some of the blame, she helped a lot with the structure and worked very hard on this.  

I'm even worse at mixing and mastering than I am at guitar.  I played the bass and tracked this whole thing with two microphones.  One was broken.  I wasted too much time on this to just delete it, so now I guess it's the Internet's problem.

The vocalist thought this song was stupid and a waste of time.  I hope you like it at least as much as he did.

A Method

Using an LTD Phoenix-401, JB in the bridge solo'd through the op amp Big Muff clone into the clean channel of a 1989 Fender The Twin.  Decided to quickly test out my recording setup and see if I could get reasonably good sounds at apartment living volumes.  You'll appreciate how hard that is if you've ever played with a red knob Twin.  Absurdly loud.

Op Amp Big Muff Clone

This is what I can do with a Digitech/DOD Grunge. First up are a few riffs with the distortion at 0, lows and highs at noon, gain at 1/4, followed by the exact same (identical source riffs, same gain, low and high) at max distortion.  Same amp sim throughout.

Digitech Grunge Modded

Few different sound settings, recorded on a tiny practice amp, using my cell phone, playing a Strat, bridge pickup only.  So the coldness you hear isn't really the pedal, it can sound as warm as your signal chain normally is.  My favourite thing is audible in the first riff, it's that ringing overtone that sounds like I have someone playing synth in the background.

This is just the one pedal.  All on its own.  Makin' all those sounds.  No modelling, just a clean 20W practice amp.  Incredibly versatile now.  Oh and now you can get a super pronounced tape speed distortion effect out of it, the last riff shows this off nicely.  

That's with the Regen quite high, you can dial it down and get a much more subtle effect, but the point of this isn't how subtle the pedal can be (the dials still all go down to 0, you can still get those subtle flanging effects), but how balls out freaking awesome it can be now.
