ryan's rotation ~ monday mix #62 ~ 3-16-15

FTR: Blow Sum Smoke consists of the mixture of organic drums and heavy electronics that have always been present in my sound. This song is a continuation of that, and is still open to lyrics. Melodically i wanted to proceed with a more laid back approach. Smooth chords, simple, but focused on the sound, opening up room for the raps, rather than going to far out there with different tangents.

Opio: Off the bat, this track was hella stoney. The music is a stimulant within itself and it put me in that frame of mind. The music reminded of how I like the mixture of marijuana and music, how cannabis can help open your mind to really hear something, like you have never heard it before. Most weed songs can be corny and cliche but when I heard this track it sounded like a classic, it sounded familiar. I wanted to provide a new take on a generally unapproachable subject. There's an authenticity to this song both musically and lyrically. It just has that dope vibe, it makes you feel good.
