This was the first song we ever wrote together.  The music was me, the lyrics all Skip.  He didn't write lyrics that often, but when he did--they were always personal to him.  After we wrote this song, we knew.  This is the "Soulnatural" recording, Skip on vox, Kevin on drums, me on guitar.  A simple 1-take recording we did one afternoon in my living room with an ADAT and a few mics.  Mixed by Will Sandalls.

Can U Try (Soulnatural version)

Revibe band.  Words by Skip--very personal.  I believe he instructed us on what to play musically too.  Akira Nakamura on drums, me on bass, Amy Bowles on keys, Steve Morrell on sax, Mark Erickson on trumpet.  Great tune.

Face (Live Soulwork)

Here's one that only got played out once at the Revibe show at Common Ground on 7-23-2004.  Kevin wrote this groove on the ferry ride coming back from a gig on Bar Harbor a year or so prior.  Kevin and Skip did a raw demo track of this and later Skip and I worked up this demo.  I believe these were Skip's words, and I recall a bit of it loosely being about Michael Jackson--the line, "Up on the toes," for example.  

Dancin' Baby (Demo)

Skip singing, me on acoustic guitar.  This was how we worked.  I brought him a tune and he gave it wings.  This was the first demo we recorded of this song.   Early 2006.

Got No Reason (Acoustic Duo Demo)

Soulwork with Gabe and Josh.  A Kevin and Skip tune.  Some great, and funny lyrics in there, "Girl you keep me from stepping up to the blackboard, when the teacher calls my name."  Priceless.  Recorded at The Big Easy in Portland NH, 6-22-02.

Everytime (Live Soulwork) Skip's intro comment is, "This is for people from Windsor."

This is the Soulnatural version of the first song on the Soulwork album "Connect."  Music by Jeff Blancato, words by Kevin and Skip.  When Jeff left the band (amicably), we were glad to keep "22" alive in the Soulnatural format.  One of my favorite Kevin/Skip collaborations lyrically.  This track reminded me that not only was Skip a fantastic vocalist--he was an unbelievable whistler and tambourine player.  Usually these sounds don't make much of an impact.  With Skip, at times they were integral.

This is the original acoustic demo of "Ever Since," which became a Revibe song in 2006.  Words and music by Skip and me.  His lyrics in the bridge are so him.  Beautiful.
