EPM Podcast 161 comes from Detroit house men, Airport Society. Airport Society are the Detroit duo of Brian Kage and Ryan Sadorus who founded the label Beretta Music together over 20 years ago who have recently teamed back up to bring us some great deep Detroit dancefloor music. Digging back in the crates for the EPM Podcast, the pair bring us a blend of Detroit house grooves and deep techno rhythms which bubble along to the sounds of Alton Miller, Dez Andrés, Paul Johnson, Josh Wink, Kevin Reynolds, Confidential Recipe and of course some of their own Airport Society landings. The two met way back in 2001 at an open turntable night in Detroit and have been working together ever since. Both have taken separate paths through the dance music world, bringing their own unique experiences to the table along the way which helps to feed into their eclectic Detroit house sound. Detroit born-and-raised Kage co-founded Beretta Music, through which he mentored and helped shape the careers of many internationally respected DJs and producers, including Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson, and Luke Hess. Kage has also released on Omar S’s FXHE, Carl Craig’s Planet-E, Steve Bug’s PokerFlat, Rob Modell’s Echospace and many more. 

Ryan’s musical journey took a different path as he came up in the dance music scene during his days in the military in Japan, spending many nights in Tokyo listening to DJs like Ko Kimura, DJ Emma, Ken Ishii and Satoshi Tomiie. He would later move to Guam where he had a monthly residency at the island's large club, Globe where he helped to bring in world renowned talent. He also hosted 2 weekly on air radio shows where he would mix vinyl live on air to help educate the island audiences about dance music from all over the world. Moving to Detroit in 2001 and meeting up with Kage would set the course for the next 20 years as they built BerettaMusic and travelled the US as a DJ duo. The two continue to remain focused on building the label by sharing their own music as well as exposing new talent to the world.

“This was my first gig after quite a long break so I’d been stockpiling my favourite tunes from the last few months, and there were so many that I was desperate to try out, things like the Crackazat tracks, Radio Slave, Santos, Maps and so on. It’s always a bit nerve-wracking playing again after having time off (for me anyway), and Buenos Aires is always such an important and special place to me, but once in that room with that amazing crowd, I immediately felt like I hadn’t been away. I have to credit Anhauser for the way they opened the room, leaving me space to start my set as deep as I wanted – it’s such an important role and they set the mood perfectly. It was a five-hour set but honestly, I wish it could have carried on, I was having such an incredible time. And I can’t wait to return.”

Ryan Sadorus aka 'Ryski' began the label BerettaMusic and sub label Beretta Grey with label mate, Brian Kage. His productions range from quirky house numbers to full on techno funk and deep, moody tech house. Having grown up in the midwest and later traveling the world in the military has given him unique insight into his own life and into his own perception of electronic music. He has DJ'ed in Japan, Guam, Hawaii, and all over the U.S. including an appearance at Tronic Treatment in NYC and several times at Motor Detroit.  Ryan lived in California for 17 years and has recently in 2021 relocated back to the motherland, Detroit.  His level of wonderlust and living all over the world has given him a unique view of life and heavily influenced his music in every way, including the music and sounds of Japan, Detroit, Chicago and the deep soulful west coast vibes.  He has in 2021 recently relocated back to Detroit where he is closely collaborating with label mate Brian Kage and focused on bringing fresh new music to the world through their shared label BerettaMusic. Look for some great new music coming in 2022 and beyond.
