As always try in december to invite an amazing artist for the serie and I am very proud that Inhmost is closing the Ambient Sessions for 2024!

About:
Inhmost aka Simon Huxtable ( Aural Imbalance) has been writing and creating atmospheric music since 1997, creating deep emotive tracks across many electronic music genres including drum & bass and spacey house / progressive. 

But Inhmost is his project to create meditative ambient music. Having the experience to create atmosphere in his DnB music and his progressive background, his ambient brings it to the next level.

This mixtape contains his released music but also upcoming tracks and inspiring music aswell from artists around the globe.

Ambient Sessions # 123 - Inhmost

The 13th 'Virtual Utopia' program has completed its beta testing stage and is now available for download. This edition is designed by DJ Athome @dj-athome and offers a 68-minute transcendental voyage through the inner and outer realms of warping psychedelia. It spans every corner of his record collection, from spaced-out dub to ever-unfolding fractal trance, all laced with an inspiring optimism to remind you of all that is good in this world—providing you with a hopeful mindset for a positive future.

As you lay back in the soft grass of a never-ending glade of cheerful vibrance, feeling the gentle breeze brush against your skin, the pulsations of euphoric energy vibrate through your soul with a benevolent embrace and understanding. The sky above is a brilliant blue, scattered with clouds that drift and mutate slowly, shifting shapes as if they were sentient. As you stare into them, they begin to morph and merge, unfolding into intricate patterns, each cloud splitting into smaller and smaller fractals, repeating endlessly like a visible code of a hidden universe. It is as if nature herself has decided to reveal her secrets to you, a harmony between the world above and the world below. Time seems to slow, and for a moment, you lose yourself in the beauty of it all.

It's with real pleasure that we welcome Vancouver's @khotin, CEO of Khotin Industries and the mind behind some of the finest downtempo experiments to come out of Canada in recent times. With blissed out ambient LPs the likes of New Tab and Beautiful You brilliantly channeling feelings of stillness and after hour melancholy, here we catch Khotin back in deep dance mix mode for the first time in two years and chat about finding himself on Ghostly International, working at the Pacific Rhythm record shop and his approach to self-releasing cassettes.

@khotin has served up a free flowing range of multi-genre experiments since announcing himself with a soft-hued acid album on 1080p back in 2014. Now involved with running Normals Welcome as well as releasing on DFA, Pacific Rhythm and Public Release, his music is united by a distinctive take on melody, post-club melancholy and love for downtempo sounds. He crafts blissful songs filled with nostalgic feelings and is exactly the sort of artist in whom we can all find some sort of solace.

And this mix is a perfect tonic for reluctant bodies with its slowly cascading rhythms and soft focus melodies serving as a gentle New Year wakener. It's laced with perfectly dreamy pads and ramshackle drums that are never too forceful but always compelling. While often invitingly sombre in mood, the clouds do break along the way to bring moments of real lightness and joy just when you need it.
