Meg Ward is a shining star of the Newcastle party scene, a proper DJ lass. Her multiple genre sets have brought her popular acclaim in the Geordie city, primarily heating the dancefloor of Cosmic Ballroom in her Ill Behaviour residency. Since first debuting only a year ago she has premiered on Houz, Genesis and Moskalus and now brings high energy synth slammer - SG2 to Zone Focus! The heavy hitting Phenol House EP takes old school rave beats and twists them into alternative underground slammers. By combining hard house and techno elements, then blending in electro and acid tweaks the results are three club-ready juggernauts, perfect for dance floor consumption. As well as delving into her own distinctive producing methods, Meg Ward’s inspiration for the EP primarily comes from her experiences within the UK dance music scene, especially those Newcastle’s infamous clubland.

After contributing with a remix in 2018, made of concrete invite Johannes Volk for a full-length artist release. On the flip, ‘Going Up (With The Help Of The Piano)’ does what it says on the tin. Short, sweet and uplifting, it’s a DJ tool perfect to brighten up a mix with blissed out summer vibes. Beard Man label boss Mark Broom returns to Radio Slave’s Rekids with a swinging techno focused four-tracker entitled ‘Raver EP’

Since the early 90s, renowned UK artist and DJ Mark Broom has been cherished for his consistent output of rhythmically charged techno and energy spiking performances with releases on Warp, R&S, Soma, Hardgroove and Blueprint alongside collaborations with artists such as Baby Ford, James Ruskin, Discrete Circuit and Gary Beck. ​A regular on Rekids, Broom's contributed numerous releases and remixes to Matt Edwards' label - notably last year's massive 'Break 97 EP' - and his next outing sees the prolific producer return with four more versatile club-focused cuts.

‘Raver’ opens with boomy kicks, splashing cymbals and aggressive stabs until ‘Insta’ trembles the floor with rolling snares, driving rides, distorted claps and arpeggiated synth patterns. On the flip, ‘Midnight’ takes retro sounding keys and adds peak time drive with lofi drums, distant vocals and a sleek funk line sample before ‘Hear Me’ electrifies with a tease of classic 90s-esque lyrics, bouncing toms and elated chords.
