The Comus Clock (Poem and Notes)

Nay (2025)

Entheogenic Psychonaught (Josh Clary)– @josh-clary-1 – four string fretless bass
This song started all the way back in October, when Chris came up with lyrics and a vocal melody to go over his acoustic guitar composition. He also added the drum beat that carries it along, and contrasts Josh's bass part, which he added next. JJ came along shortly after and added his twinkling piano and ambiance thickening organ.
We had all these parts down, but for some reason this sat on the shelf for a few months. Finally we decided to dust it off. Chris mixed it for us expertly, as always, and we decided to put a ribbon on it.
This is an example of Chris's brilliant songwriting, shared with a couple of other musicians who are mutual admirers of his work. This is also a trio within the Eclectic Collective family, as we sometimes do side projects with different iterations of the group. We all hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Husband:

We’re his parents, and his health and overall well being 
Are for eighteen years our most important mission 

To let him eat the foods he likes would certainly be freeing 
But he must learn the basic concepts of nutrition 

He can’t just eat the pizza and the French fries, 
he’s such a picky eater and refuses to eat greens 
Who goes to jail if he this kid of malnutrition dies?

Beans are so nutritious and have such a pleasant flavor 
I just know our boy would love them if he just gave them a shot! 

By forcing him to eat his beans we’re doing him a favor! 
It will teach him a lesson that sometimes you choke it down whether you like it or not! 

I’ll sneak up behind him and restrain him 
You take a heap of those lima beans and jam them down his throat 
In the spirit of tough love we both will train him:
What’s good for you is forced on you and often you don’t get to vote!

I've been feeling a little under the weather for the past few days.
Maybe I'm tired, or maybe it's too hot.

There's no need to worry about it.
I don't want to cause any trouble for you.

This machine has been malfunctioning since last night.
The parts needed to repair it are no longer available.

Due to the intense sunlight, there are few people on the streets.
Outside the window lies a world in ruins.

I'm not thinking anything strange.
I'm just feeling a little fed up.
